Numbers 25

 

1 God Prevails (Israel) stayed in The Acacias (Shittim), and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Of His Father (Moab).

 

2 They called the people to the sacrifices of their gods: and the people ate and bowed down to their gods.

 

3 God Prevails (Israel) joined himself to Lord of the Gap (Baalpeor): and the anger of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) was kindled against God Prevails (Israel).

 

4 I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) said to Drawn (Moses): Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) against the sun, that the fierce anger of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) may be turned away from God Prevails (Israel).

 

5 Drawn (Moses) said to the judges of God Prevails (Israel): Slay every man that joined himself to Lord of the Gap (Baalpeor).

 

6 Then one of the men of God Prevails (Israel) defiantly brought a Strifette (Midianite) woman to flaunt before Drawn (Moses) in the sight of all the congregation of the children of God Prevails (Israel), who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

 

7 When Mouth of Brass (Phinehas), the son of God Has Helped (Eleazar), the son of Light Bringer (Aaron) the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand;

 

8 He went after the man of God Prevails (Israel) into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of God Prevails (Israel), and the woman through her belly. So, the plague was stayed from the children of God Prevails (Israel).

 

9 Those that died in the plague were twenty-four thousand.

 

10 Then I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) spoke to Drawn (Moses), saying,

 

11 Mouth of Brass (Phinehas), the son of God Has Helped (Eleazar), the son of Light Bringer (Aaron) the priest, has turned My wrath away from the children of God Prevails (Israel), while he was zealous for My sake among them. Therefore, I did not consume the children of God Prevails (Israel) in My jealousy.

 

12 Wherefore say: Behold, I give to him My covenant of peace:

 

13 He shall have it, and his seed after him, the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God ('Elohiym), and made an atonement for the children of God Prevails (Israel).

 

14 Now the name of the man of God Prevails (Israelite) that was slain, the one that was slain with the Strifette (Midianite) woman, was My Music (Zimri), the son of Weighed (Salu), a prince of a chief house among the Tribe of Heard (Simeonites).

 

15 And the name of the Strifette (Midianite) woman that was slain was My Lie (Cozbi), the daughter of Rock (Zur); he was head over a people, and of a chief house in Strife (Midian).

 

16 Then I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) spoke to Drawn (Moses), saying:

 

17 Besiege the Strifettes (Midianites), and attack them.

 

18 For they bind you with their wiles, wherewith they have beguiled you in the matter of Cleft (Peor), and in the matter of My Lie (Cozbi), the daughter of a prince of Strife (Midian), their sister, who was slain in the day of the plague for Cleft’s (Peor) sake.
