The Beginning (Genesis) 28

11And Laughter (Isaac) called Heel-Grabber (Jacob), and blessed him, and charged him, and said to him, “You shall not take a wife of the daughters of Humbled One (Canaan).

 2Go to Field (Padan), to the house of God Destroys (Bethuel) your mother's father; and take a wife from there of the daughters of White (Laban) your mother's brother.

 3May God the Nurturer (El Shaddi) bless you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, that you may become a multitude of people;

 4And give to you the blessing of Father of a Multitude (Abraham), and to your seed as well; that you may inherit the land wherein you are a stranger, which God ('Elohiym) gave to Father of a Multitude (Abraham).”

 5Then Laughter (Isaac) sent away Heel-Grabber (Jacob): and he went to Field (Padanaram) to White (Laban), son of God Destroys (Bethuel) the Exalted (Syrian), the brother of Secured (Rebekah), Heel-Grabber (Jacob)'s and Hairy's (Hairy (Esau)'s) mother.

 6Hairy (Esau) saw that Laughter (Isaac) had blessed Heel-Grabber (Jacob), and sent him away to Field (Padanaram), to take a wife from there; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, “You shall not take a wife of the daughters of Humbled One (Canaan)”;

 7And that Heel-Grabber (Jacob) obeyed his father and his mother, and had gone to Field (Padanaram);

 8Hairy (Esau) realized that the daughters of Humbled One (Canaan) did not please Laughter (Isaac) his father;

 9Then Hairy (Esau) went to God Will Hear (Ishmael), and took Stringed Instrument (Mahalath) the daughter of God Will Hear (Ishmael) Father of a Multitude (Abraham)'s son, the sister of Heights (Nebajoth), to be his wife in addition to the wives which he had .

 10Heel-Grabber (Jacob) went out from the Well of the Sevenfold Oath (Beersheba), and went toward Mountaineer (Haran).

 11He came upon a certain place, and stayed there all night, because the sun was set. He took of the stones of that place, and used them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.

 12And he dreamed that a ladder was set up on the earth. The top of it reached to heaven: and he saw the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

 13Then he saw, I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) standing above it, and said, I am I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) God of Father of a Multitude (Abraham) your father, and the God of Laughter (Isaac): the land whereon you lie, I will give it to you, and to your seed;

 14And your seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and you shall spread broadly to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in you and in your seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

 15And, behold, I am with you, and will keep you in every place you go, and will bring you again into this land; for I will not leave you, until I have done that which I have spoken to you about.

 16ThenHeel-Grabber (Jacob) woke up from his sleep, and he said, “Surely I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) is in this place; and I knew it not.”

 17He was afraid and declared, “How dreadful is this place! This is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!”

 18Then Heel-Grabber (Jacob) rose up early in the morning, and took the stones that he had put for his pillows, and set them up for a pillar, and poured oil on the top of it.

 19He called the name of that place the House of God (Bethel): but the name of that city was called Almond Tree (Luz) at the first.

 20Then Heel-Grabber (Jacob) vowed a vow, saying, If God ('Elohiym) will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and clothing to put on,

 21So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) be my God ('Elohiym):

 22And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's ('Elohiym) house: and of all that You give me I will surely give the tenth to You.

The Beginning (Genesis) 27

  ¹When Laughter (Isaac) was old and his eyes were dim so that he could not see, he called Hairy (Esau) his eldest son, and said to him, “My son”. And Hairy (Esau) said to him, “Behold, here am I.”

 ² He said, Look, I am old, I don’t know when I will die.

 ³ Please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field, and get me some venison;

 ⁴ Then make me some savory meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless you before I die.”

 ⁵ Secured (Rebekah) heard Laughter (Isaac) speak to Hairy (Esau) his son. And Hairy (Esau) went to the field to hunt and bring home some venison.

 ⁶ So Secured (Rebekah) spoke to Heel-Grabber (Jacob) her son, saying, “I heard your father speak to your brother Hairy (Esau) saying,

 ^7”'Bring me venison, and make me savory meat, that I may eat, and bless you before I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) before my death.

 ⁸Now therefore, my son, do what I tell you.

 ⁹Go to the flock, and fetch me two good goat kids and I will make the savory meat your father loves.

 ¹⁰Then take it to your father, that he may eat, and that he may bless you before his death.

 ¹¹So Heel-Grabber (Jacob) said to Secured (Rebekah) his mother, “Look, Hairy (Esau) my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:

 ¹What if my father feels me? He will know I am a deceiver. I will bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.”

 ¹³His mother said, “Upon me be your curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them.”

 ¹⁴So he went, and fetched, and brought them to his mother: and his mother made the savory meat his father loved.

 ¹⁵Then Secured (Rebekah) took her eldest son Hairy's (Esau) clothes, which were in her house, and put them on Heel-Grabber (Jacob) her younger son:

 ¹⁶And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and on the smooth of his neck:

 ¹⁷And she gave the savory meat and the bread, which she had prepared, to her son Heel-Grabber (Jacob).

 ¹⁸He went to his father, and said, “My father” His father replied, “Here am I; who are you, my son?”

 ¹⁹Heel-Grabber (Jacob) said to his father, “I am Hairy (Esau) your first born; I have done what you asked me. Please sit up and eat of my venison, that your soul may bless me.”

 ²⁰Laughter (Isaac) said to his son, “How is it that you have found it so quickly, my son?” Laughter (Isaac) said to Heel-Grabber (Jacob), “Come near please, so I can feel you, my son, to know if you are my son Hairy (Esau) or not.”

 ²²Heel-Grabber (Jacob) went near Laughter (Isaac) his father; and he felt him, and said, “The voice is Heel-Grabber (Jacob)'s voice, but the hands are the hands of Hairy (Esau).”

 ²³And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Hairy (Esau)'s hands: so he blessed him.

 ²⁴He said, “Are you my son Hairy (Esau)?” Heel-Grabber (Jacob) replied, “I am.”

 ²⁵He said, “Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son's venison, that my soul may bless you.” And he brought it near to him, and he ate: and he brought him wine and he drank.

 ²⁶His father Laughter (Isaac) said to him, “Come near now, and kiss me, my son.”

 ²⁷So he came near, and kissed him. Laughter (Isaac) smelled the smell of his clothing, and blessed him, and said, “See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) has blessed:

 ²⁸Therefore may God ('Elohiym) give of you the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of grain and wine:

 ²⁹Let people serve you, and nations bow down to you: be lord over your brothers, and let your mother's sons bow down to you: cursed be every one that curses you, and blessed be he that blesses you.”

 ³⁰As soon as Laughter (Isaac) had made an end of blessing Heel-Grabber (Jacob), and Heel-Grabber (Jacob) was scarce yet gone out from the presence of Laughter (Isaac) his father, that Hairy (Esau) his brother came in from his hunting.

 ³¹He also had made savory meat, and brought it to his father. He said to his farther, “Let my father arise, and eat of his son's venison, that your soul may bless me.”

 ³²Laughter (Isaac) his father said to him, “Who are you?” And he said, “I am your son, your firstborn Hairy (Esau).”

 ³³Then Laughter (Isaac) trembled with anger, and said, “Who? Where is he that brought me venison, and I ate of it before you came. I have blessed him? Yes, he shall be blessed.”

 ³⁴When Hairy (Esau) heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said to his father, “Bless me, even me also, O my father.”

 ³⁵Laughter (Isaac) said, “Your brother came subtly, and has taken away your blessing.”

 ³⁶He said, “Is he not rightly named Heel-Grabber (Jacob)? for he has supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he has taken away my blessing.” Then he asked, “Have you not reserved a blessing for me?”

 ³⁷Laughter (Isaac) answered and said to Hairy (Esau), Look, I have made him your lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with grain and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now for you, my son?”

 ³⁸Hairy (Esau) said to his father, “Have you but one blessing, my father? Bless me, even me also, O my father.” Hairy (Esau) wept loudly.

 ³⁹Laughter (Isaac) his father answered, “Behold, your dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above;

 ⁴⁰By your sword you shall live, and shall serve your brother. But it shall come to pass you will have the dominion and you shall break his yoke from off your neck.”

 ⁴¹So Hairy (Esau) hated Heel-Grabber (Jacob) because of the blessing which his father blessed him with: and Hairy (Esau) said in his heart, “The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Heel-Grabber (Jacob).”

 ⁴²These words of Hairy (Esau) her elder son were told to Secured (Rebekah): and she sent for Heel-Grabber (Jacob) her younger son, and said to him, Your brother Hairy (Esau), is feeling sorry for himself, and is threatening to kill you.

 ⁴³Now therefore, my son, do what I say; arise, flee to White (Laban) my brother in Mountaineer (Haran);

 ⁴⁴Stay with him a few days, until your brother's fury turns away;

 ⁴⁵When your brother's anger turns away from you, and he forgets what you have done to him: then I will send for you to come home. Why should I be deprived of you both in one day?”

 ⁴⁶Then Secured (Rebekah) said to Laughter (Isaac), “I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Terror (Heth): if Heel-Grabber (Jacob) takes a wife of the daughters of Terror (Heth), such as these which are of the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me?”
