I AM is Salvation (Joshua) | Full Book

 1

 

1 Now after the death of Drawn (Moses) the servant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) it came to pass, that I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) spoke to I AM is Salvation (Joshua) the son of Posterity (Nun), Drawn (Moses)' minister, saying:

 

2 Drawn (Moses) My servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over The Descender (Jordan), you, and all these people, to the land which I have given to them, the children of God Prevails (Israel).

 

3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that I have given to you, as I said to Drawn (Moses).

 

4 From the wilderness over to Whiteness (Lebanon) to the great river, the river Fruitfulness (Euphrates), all the land of the Terrors (Hittite), and to the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory.

 

5 There will not be any man who is able to stand before you all the days of your life: as I was with Drawn (Moses), so I will be with you: I will not fail you, nor forsake you.

 

6 Be strong and of good courage: for you shall divide this land among the people - the inheritance which I swore to their fathers to give them.

 

7 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law, which Drawn (Moses) My servant commanded you: Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.

 

8 This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.

 

9 Have not I commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be dismayed: for I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God (‘Elohiym) is with you wherever you go.

 

10 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) commanded the officers of the people, saying:

 

11 Pass through the host, and command the people, saying: Prepare for yourselves victuals; for within three days you shall pass over The Descender (Jordan), to go in to possess the land, which I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God (‘Elohiym) gives you to possess it.

 

12 To the Behold a Son’s (Reuben), and to the Troops (Gad), and to the half-tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh), I AM is Salvation (Joshua) spoke, saying:

 

13 Remember the word which Drawn (Moses) the servant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) commanded you, saying, I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God (‘Elohiym) has given you rest and has given you this land.

 

14 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Drawn (Moses) gave you on this side The Descender (Jordan); but you shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valor, and help them;

 

15 Until I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) has given your brethren rest, as He has given you, and they also have possessed the land which I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God (‘Elohiym) gives them: then you shall return to the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Drawn (Moses) I AM's (the LORD, Yehovah) servant gave you on this side The Descender (Jordan) toward the sun rising.

 

16 And they answered, saying: All that you command us we will do, and wherever you send us, we will go.

 

17 As we listened to Drawn (Moses) in all things, so will we listen to you: I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God (‘Elohiym) be with you, as He was with Drawn (Moses).

 

18 Whosoever rebels against your commandment, and will not listen to your words in all that you command, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of good courage.

 

2

 

1 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) the son of Posterity (Nun) sent out from The Acacias (Shittim) two men to spy secretly, saying: Go view the land, in and around Its Moon (Jericho). So, they went into a harlot's house, named Wide (Rahab), and lodged there.

 

2 The king of Its Moon (Jericho) was told: Men of the children of God Prevails (Israel) have come tonight to search out the country.

 

3 So the king of Its Moon (Jericho) sent to Wide (Rahab), saying: Bring forth the men that have come to you, who entered your house: for they have come to search out all the country.

 

4 But the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said this: Men came to me, but I do not know where they are:

 

5 About the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, the men went out: where the men went, I don’t know: pursue after them quickly; you will overtake them.

 

6 But she had brought them up to the roof of the house and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order on the roof.

 

7 So the men pursued after them the way to The Descender (Jordan) to the fords: and as soon as they who pursued after them went out, they shut the gate.

 

8 Before they were laid down, she came up to them on the roof;

 

9 She said to the men: I know that I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) has given you the land and that your terror is fallen on us. All the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.

 

10 We have heard how I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Double Straights (Egypt); and what you did to the two kings of The Talkers, Sayers (Amorite), that were on the other side The Descender (Jordan), Warrior (Sihon) and Long-Necked (Og), whom you utterly destroyed.

 

11 As soon as we had heard these things, our hearts melted, neither was there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God, he is God in heaven above, and in the earth beneath.

 

12 Now, therefore, I pray you, swear to me by I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), since I have showed you kindness, that you will also show kindness to my father's house, and give me a true token:

 

13 That you will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.

 

14 The men answered her: Our life for yours if you keep quiet about our business. When I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) has given us the land, we will deal kindly and truly with you.

 

15 Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was on the town wall, and she dwelt on the wall.

 

16 She said to them: Go to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers return: and afterward you may go your way.

 

17 The men said to her: We will be blameless of this your oath which you have made us swear.

 

18 When we come into the land, bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which you let us down by. Bring your father, and your mother, and your brothers, and all your father's household, home to you.

 

19 Whoever goes out of the doors of your house into the street, his blood shall be on his head, and we will be guiltless: and whoever is with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand is laid on him.

 

20 If you speak about our business, then we will not be accountable to the oath which you have made us swear.

 

21 She agreed: According to your words, so be it. Then she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.

 

22 So they went, and came to the mountain, and stayed there three days until the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but did not find them.

 

23 So the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all things that befell them:

 

24 And they said to Joshua, Truly I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) has delivered into our hands all the land; for all the inhabitants of the country faint because of us.

 

3

 

1 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) rose early in the morning and left from The Acacias (Shittim), and came to The Descender (Jordan), he and all the children of God (‘Elohiym) Prevails (Israel), and lodged there before they passed over.

 

2 After three days, the officers went through the host;

 

3 They commanded the people, saying: When you see the ark of the covenant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God (‘Elohiym), and the priests the Children of Joined To (Levites) bearing it, then you shall leave your place, and go after it.

 

4 Leave a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: do not come near it, but follow it, that you may know the way by which you must go: for you have not passed this way before.

 

5 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said to the people: Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) will do wonders among you.

 

6 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) spoke to the priests, saying: Take up the ark of the covenant and pass over before the people. So they took up the ark of the covenant and went before the people.

 

7 I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) said to I AM is Salvation (Joshua), This day will I begin to magnify you in the sight of all God (‘Elohiym) Prevails (Israel), that they may know that, as I was with Drawn (Moses), so I will be with you.

 

8 Command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying: When you have come to the brink of the water of The Descender (Jordan), stand still in The Descender (Jordan).

 

9 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said to the children of God (‘Elohiym) Prevails (Israel), Come and hear the words of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God (‘Elohiym).

 

10 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said: Hereby you shall know that the living God (‘Elohiym) is among you and that He will without fail drive out from before you the Humbled Ones (Canaanites), and the Terrors (Hittite), and the Villagers  (Hivites), and Those Belonging to a Village (Perizzites), and the Dwelling of Clayey Soil (Girgashites), and The Talkers, Sayers (Amorite), and the Trodden Underfoot (Jebusites).

 

11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) of all the earth passes over before you into The Descender (Jordan).

 

12 Now, therefore, take twelve men out of the tribes of God (‘Elohiym) Prevails (Israel), out of every tribe a man.

 

13 And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the Lord, I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of The Descender (Jordan), that the waters of The Descender (Jordan) shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand in a heap.

 

14 So it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over The Descender (Jordan), and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people;

 

15 And as they that bore the ark came to The Descender (Jordan), and the feet of the priests that bare the ark dipped in the brim of the water, (for The Descender (Jordan) overflows its banks all the time of harvest,)

 

16 That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up on a heap very far from the city Ruddy Man (Adam), that is beside Their Distress (Zaretan): and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Its Moon (Jericho).

 

17 And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) stood firm on dry ground in the midst of The Descender (Jordan), and all the God (‘Elohiym) Prevails (Israel) passed over on dry ground until all the people had passed over The Descender (Jordan).

 

4

 

1 It came to pass when all the people had passed over The Descender (Jordan), that I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) spoke to I AM is Salvation (Joshua), saying:

 

2 Take twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,

 

3 And command them, saying: Go out to the middle of The Descender (Jordan), out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm, carry twelve stones over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where you lodge tonight.

 

4 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) called the twelve men, whom he directed of the children of God Prevails (Israel), out of every tribe a man:

 

5 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said to them: Pass over before the ark of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God ('Elohiym) into the middle of The Descender (Jordan), and let every man of you take a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of God Prevails (Israel):

 

6 That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying: What is meant by these stones?

 

7 You shall answer them: The waters of The Descender (Jordan) were cut off before the ark of the covenant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) when it passed over The Descender (Jordan), and these stones shall be for a memorial to the children of God Prevails (Israel) forever.

 

8 So the children of God Prevails (Israel) did as I AM is Salvation (Joshua) commanded, and took up twelve stones from the middle of The Descender (Jordan), as I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) spoke to I AM is Salvation (Joshua), according to the number of the tribes of the children of God Prevails (Israel), and carried them over with them to the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.

 

9 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) set up twelve stones in the midst of The Descender (Jordan), in the place where the feet of the priests which bore the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there to this day.

 

10 For the priests who bore the ark stood in the middle of The Descender (Jordan) until everything was finished that I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) commanded I AM is Salvation (Joshua) to speak to the people, according to all that Drawn (Moses) commanded I AM is Salvation (Joshua): and the people hurried and passed over.

 

11 Then when all the people had passed over, the ark of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) passed over, and the priests, in the presence of the people.

 

12 The children of Behold a Son (Reuben), the children of Behold a Son (Reuben), and half the tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh) passed over armed before the children of God Prevails (Israel), as Drawn (Moses) spoke to them:

 

13 About forty thousand prepared for war passed over before I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) to battle, to the plains of Its Moon (Jericho).

 

14 On that day I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) magnified I AM is Salvation (Joshua) in the sight of all God Prevails (Israel); and they feared him, as they feared Drawn (Moses), all the days of his life.

 

15 Then I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) spoke to I AM is Salvation (Joshua), saying,

 

16 Command the priests that bear the ark of the testimony to come up out of The Descender (Jordan).

 

17 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) therefore commanded the priests, saying: Come up out of The Descender (Jordan).

 

18 It came to pass, when the priests that bore the ark of the covenant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) came up out of the midst of The Descender (Jordan), and the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up to the dry land, that the waters of The Descender (Jordan) returned to their place, and flowed over all its banks, as they did before.

 

19 And the people came up out of The Descender (Jordan) on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, on the east border of Its Moon (Jericho).

 

20 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) pitched at Gilgal the twelve stones, which they took out of The Descender (Jordan).

 

21 There he spoke to the children of God Prevails (Israel), saying: When your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying: What do these stones mean?

 

22 Then you shall let your children know, saying: God Prevails (Israel) came over this The Descender (Jordan) on dry land.

 

23 For I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God ('Elohiym) dried up the waters of The Descender (Jordan) from before you until you had passed over, as I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God ('Elohiym) did to the Red (Reed) sea, which He dried up from before us until we had gone over:

 

24 That all the people of the earth might know the hand of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), that it is mighty: that you might fear I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God ('Elohiym) forever.

 

5

 

1 It came to pass, when all the kings of The Talkers, Sayers (Amorites), which were on the side of The Descender (Jordan) westward, and all the kings of the Humbled Ones (Canaanites), which were by the sea, heard that  I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) had dried up the waters of The Descender (Jordan) from before the children of God Prevails (Israel), until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them anymore, because of the children of God Prevails (Israel).

 

2 At that time, I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) said to I AM is Salvation (Joshua), Make yourself sharp knives, and circumcise again the children of God Prevails (Israel) the second time.

 

3 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) made sharp knives and circumcised the children of God Prevails (Israel) at the hill of the foreskins.

 

4 The reason I AM is Salvation (Joshua) circumcised was this: All the males that came out of Double Straights (Egypt), that is, all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came out of Double Straights (Egypt).

 

5 Now all the people that came out were circumcised: but all the people that were born in the wilderness by the way as they came forth out of Double Straights (Egypt), had not been circumcised.

 

6 For the children of God Prevails (Israel) walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of Double Straights (Egypt), were consumed because they did not obey the voice of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah): to whom  I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) swore that He would not show them the land, which  I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) swore to their fathers that He would give us, a land that flows with milk and honey.

 

7 Their children, whom He raised up in their stead, these I AM is Salvation (Joshua) circumcised: for they were uncircumcised because they had not circumcised them by the way.

 

8 It came to pass when they had done circumcising all the people, that they abode in their places in the camp, till they were whole.

 

9 I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) said to I AM is Salvation (Joshua), This day have I rolled away the reproach of Double Straights (Egypt) from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is called Rolling Wheel (Gilgal) to this day.

 

10 And the children of God Prevails (Israel) encamped in Rolling Wheel (Gilgal), and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at evening in the plains of Its Moon (Jericho).

 

11 They ate of the old corn of the land on the day after the Passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn that day.

 

12 Then the manna ceased the day after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of God Prevails (Israel) manna any more, but they ate of the fruit of the land of Humbled One (Canaan) that year.

 

13 Then when I AM is Salvation (Joshua) was by Its Moon (Jericho), that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and I AM is Salvation (Joshua) went to him and said to him: Are you for us, or for our adversaries?

 

14 He answered, “Nay; but as captain of the host of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) am I now come. And I AM is Salvation (Joshua) fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said to him: What does my Lord (Adonay) want to say to his servant?

 

15 The captain of the I AM's (the LORD, Yehovah) host said to I AM is Salvation (Joshua): Take your shoe off your foot; for the place where you stand is holy. So, I AM is Salvation (Joshua) did so.

 

6

 

1 Now Its Moon (Jericho) was straitly shut up because of the children of God Prevails (Israel): none went out, and none came in.

 

2 I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) said to I AM is Salvation (Joshua): See, I have given into your hand Its Moon (Jericho), and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor.

 

3 You shall compass the city, all you men of war, and go round about the city once. This you shall do for six days.

 

4 Seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark and on the seventh day you shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.

 

5 Then it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

 

6 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) the son of Nun called the priests and said to them: Take up the ark of the covenant and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah).

 

7 He said to the people: Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah).

 

8 Then it came to pass, when I AM is Salvation (Joshua) had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns passed on before I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), and blew with the trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) followed them.

 

9 Then the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets, and the rear guard came after the ark, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

 

10 And I AM is Salvation (Joshua) had commanded the people, saying: You shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall you shout.

 

11 So the ark of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) compassed the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.

 

12 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah).

 

13 The seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams' horns went before the ark of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), and blew continually with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rear guard came after the ark of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

 

14 Again on the second day they compassed the city once and returned to the camp: they did so for six days.

 

15 It came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city in the same manner: only on that day they compassed the city seven times.

 

16 On the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said to the people: Shout; for I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) has given you the city.

 

17 This city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to I AM (the LORD, Yehovah): only Wide (Rahab) the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

 

18 And you, keep yourselves from the accursed thing in every way, lest you make yourselves accursed, when you take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of God Prevails (Israel) a curse, and trouble it.

 

19 But all the silver, gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated to I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) and shall come into the treasury of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah).

 

20 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

 

21 And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, ox, sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

 

22 But I AM is Salvation (Joshua) had said to the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot's house, and bring out the woman, and all that she has, as you swore to her.

 

23 So the young men that were spies went in and brought out Wide (Rahab), and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them outside the camp of God Prevails (Israel).

 

24 Then they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and iron, they put into the treasury of the house of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah).

 

25 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) saved Wide (Rahab) the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwells in God Prevails (Israel) to this day; because she hid the messengers, which I AM is Salvation (Joshua) sent to spy out Its Moon (Jericho).

 

26 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) adjured them at that time, saying: Cursed be the man before I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), that rises up and builds this city Its Moon (Jericho): he shall lay the foundation thereof with his firstborn, and with his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.

 

27 So I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) was with I AM is Salvation (Joshua); and his fame was noised throughout all the country.

 

7

 

1 But the children of God Prevails (Israel) committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Troubler (Achan), the son of My Vineyard (Carmi), the son of Endowment (Zabdi), the son of Rising (Zerah), of the tribe of Praised (Judah), took of the accursed thing: and the anger of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) was kindled against the children of God Prevails (Isra-el).

2 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) sent men from Its Moon (Jericho) to Heap of Ruins (Ai), which is beside House of Vanity (Bethaven), on the east of The House of God (Bethel), and spoke to them, saying: Go up and view the country. So, the men went up and viewed Heap of Ruins (Ai).

3 They returned to I AM is Salvation (Joshua), and said to him: No need to have all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Heap of Ruins (Ai); don’t have all the people to fight there; for they are but few.

4 So there went up of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Heap of Ruins (Ai).

5 The men of Heap of Ruins (Ai) killed about thirty-six men. They chased them from before the gate all the way to The Breaches (Shebarim) and smote them as they went down. Therefore, the hearts of the people melted and became as water.

6 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) until the even-ing, he and the elders of God Prevails (Israel), and put dust on their heads.

7 And I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said: Alas, O I AM (THE LORD, YEHOVAH) God ('Elohiym), why have You brought these people over The Descender (Jordan), to deliver us into the hand of The Talkers, Sayers (Amorites), to destroy us? if only we had been content and dwelt on the other side of The Descender (Jordan)!

8 O I AM (THE LORD, YEHOVAH), what shall I say, when God Prevails (Is-rael) turns their backs before their enemies!

9 For the Humbled Ones (Canaanites) and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall surround us, and cut off our name from the earth: and what will You do to Your great name?

10 Then I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) said to I AM is Salvation (Joshua): Get up; why do you lay on your face?

11 God Prevails (Israel) has sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have taken of the accurs-ed thing. They have stolen, dissembled, and put it among their own stuff.

12 That is why the children of God Prevails (Israel) could not stand be-fore their enemies and turned their backs before their enemies - be-cause they were accursed. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy the accursed from among you.

13 Up, prepare the people and say: Sanctify yourselves before tomorrow: for thus says I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) God of God Prevails (Israel), There is an accursed thing in the midst of You, O God Prevails (Israel). You cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the accurs-ed thing from among you.

14 In the morning, therefore, you shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) chooses shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) chooses shall come by house-holds; and the household which I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) chooses shall come man by man.

15 And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he has: because he has transgressed the covenant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) and because he has wrought folly in God Prevails (Israel).

16 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) rose early in the morning, and brought God Prevails (Israel) by their tribes, and the tribe of Praised (Judah) was chosen:

17 And he brought the family of Praised (Judah), and he took the family of the Rising (Zarahites): and he brought the family of Rising (Zarahites) man by man, and Endowment (Zabdi) was taken:

18 So he brought his household man by man; and Troubler (Achan), the son of My Vineyard (Carmi), the son of Endowment (Zabdi), the son of Rising (Zerah), of the tribe of Praised (Judah), was taken.

19 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said to Troubler (Achan): My son, give glory to I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) God of God Prevails (Israel), and make confession to Him; and tell me now what you have done. Do not hide it from me.

20 Then Troubler (Achan) answered I AM is Salvation (Joshua), and said: Indeed, I have sinned against I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) God of God Prevails (Israel), and this is what I have done:

21 When I saw among the spoils a beautiful Babylonish garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels in weight, I coveted them, and took them. They are hidden in the earth in the middle of my tent, and the silver is under them.

22 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) sent messengers, and they ran to the tent; it was hidden in his tent with the silver under it.

23 They took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them to I AM is Salvation (Joshua), and to all the children of God Prevails (Israel), and laid them out before I AM (the LORD, Yehovah).

24 I AM is Salvation (Joshua), and all God Prevails (Israel) with him, took Troubler (Achan) the son of Rising (Zerah), and the silver, the garment, and the wedge of gold, along with his sons, and his daughters, his ox-en, his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them to the valley of Trouble (Achor).

25 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said: Why have you troubled us? I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) shall trouble you this day. And all God Prevails (Israel) stoned him with stones and burned them with fire after they had stoned them with stones.

26 And they raised over him a great heap of stones to this day. So, I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) turned from the fierceness of his anger. Therefore, the name of that place was called, The valley of Trouble (Achor), to this day.

 

8

 

1 I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) said to I AM is Salvation (Joshua): Fear not, neither be dismayed. Take all the people of war with you, and arise, go up to Heap of Ruins (Ai): see, I have given into your hand the king of Heap of Ruins (Ai), and his people, and his city, and his land:

2 You shall do to Heap of Ruins (Ai) and her king as you did to Its Moon (Jericho) and her king: only the spoil thereof, and the cattle thereof, you shall take for prey for yourselves. Lay an ambush for the city behind it.

3 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) arose with all the people of war, to go up against Heap of Ruins (Ai): and I AM is Salvation (Joshua) chose out thirty thousand mighty men of valor and sent them away by night.

4 He commanded them, saying: Behold, you shall lie in wait behind the city. Do go not very far from the city, but be ready:

5 And I, and all the people that are with me, will approach to the city: and it shall come to pass, when they come out against us, as at the first we will flee before them,

6 (For they will come out after us) till we have drawn them from the city; for they will say: They flee before us, as at the first: therefore we will flee before them.

7 Then you shall rise up from the ambush, and seize the city: for I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God will deliver it into your hand.

8 And it shall be when you have taken the city, that you shall set the city on fire: according to the commandment of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) do it. See, I have commanded you.

9 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) therefore sent them forth: and they went to lie in ambush, and stayed between The House of God (Bethel) and Heap of Ruins (Ai), on the west side of Heap of Ruins (Ai): but I AM is Salvation (Joshua) lodged that night among the people.

10 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) rose up early in the morning, numbered the people, and went up, he and the elders of God Prevails (Israel), be-fore the people to Heap of Ruins (Ai).

11 Then all the people, the people of war that were with him, went up, and drew nigh, and came before the city, and pitched on the north side of Heap of Ruins (Ai): now there was a valley between them and Heap of Ruins (Ai).

12 He took about five thousand men and set them to lie in ambush be-tween The House of God (Bethel) and Heap of Ruins (Ai), on the city’s west side.

13 When they had set the ambush, all the troops that were on the north of the city, and those lying in wait on the west of the city, I AM is Salvation (Joshua) went that night into the midst of the valley.

14 It came to pass, when the king of Heap of Ruins (Ai) saw it, that they hurried and rose up early, and the men of the city went out against God Prevails (Israel) to battle, he and all his people, at a time appointed, be-fore the plain; but he was not aware that there was an ambush against him behind the city.

15 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) and all God Prevails (Israel) made as if they were beaten before them, and fled by the way of the wilderness.

16 And all the people that were in Heap of Ruins (Ai) were called to-gether to pursue after them: and they pursued after I AM is Salvation (Joshua), and were drawn away from the city.

 

17 There was not a man left in Heap of Ruins (Ai) or The House of God (Bethel), that did not go out after God Prevails (Israel): so they left the city open and pursued after God Prevails (Israel).

18 Then I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) said to I AM is Salvation (Joshua): Stretch out the spear that is in your hand toward Heap of Ruins (Ai); for I will give it into your hand. So, I AM is Salvation (Joshua) stretched out the spear that he had in his hand toward the city.

19 The ambush arose quickly out of their place, and they ran as soon as he had stretched out his hand. They entered into the city, took it quick-ly, and set the city on fire.

20 When the men of Heap of Ruins (Ai) looked behind them, they saw, the smoke of the city ascending up to heaven, and they had no power to flee this way or that way: and the people that fled to the wilderness turned back upon the pursuers.

21 When I AM is Salvation (Joshua) and all God Prevails (Israel) saw that the ambush had taken the city and that the smoke of the city ascend-ed, then they turned again, and slew the men of Heap of Ruins (Ai).

22 The other issued out of the city against them; so they were in the midst of God Prevails (Israel), some on this side and some on that side: and they smote them, so that they let none of them remain or escape.

23 And the king of Heap of Ruins (Ai) they took alive and brought him to I AM is Salvation (Joshua).

 

24 So it came to pass when God Prevails (Israel) had made an end of slaying all the inhabitants of Heap of Ruins (Ai) in the field, in the wil-derness wherein they chased them, and when they were all fallen on the edge of the sword until they were consumed, that all the God Pre-vails (Israel) returned to Heap of Ruins (Ai) and smote it with the edge of the sword.

25 So all that fell that day, both men and women, were twelve thou-sand, including all the men of Heap of Ruins (Ai).

26 For I AM is Salvation (Joshua) did not draw his hand back, wherewith he stretched out the spear until he had utterly destroyed all the inhab-itants of Heap of Ruins (Ai).

27 But the cattle and the spoil of that city God Prevails (Israel) took for a prey to themselves, according to the word of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) which He commanded I AM is Salvation (Joshua).

28 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) burnt Heap of Ruins (Ai), and made it a heap forever. It is a desolation to this day.

29 And the king of Heap of Ruins (Ai) he hanged on a tree until even-ing: and as soon as the sun was down, I AM is Salvation (Joshua) com-manded that they should take his carcass down from the tree, and cast it at the entering of the gate of the city, and raise thereon a great heap of stones, that remains to this day.

30 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) built an altar to I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) God of God Prevails (Israel) in mount Bare Mountain (Ebal),

31 As Drawn (Moses) the servant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) com-manded the children of God Prevails (Israel), as it is written in the book of the law of Drawn (Moses), an altar of whole stones, over which no man has lifted up any iron: and they offered thereon burnt offerings to I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), and sacrificed peace offerings.

32 He wrote there upon the stones a copy of the law of Drawn (Moses), which he wrote in the presence of the children of God Prevails (Israel).

33 Then all God Prevails (Israel), and their elders, and officers, and their judges, stood on this side the ark and on that side before the priests the Children of Joined To (Levites), who bore the ark of the covenant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), as well the stranger, as he that was born among them; half of them over against mount Cuttings Off (Gerizim), and half of them over against mount Bare Mountain (Ebal); as Drawn (Moses) the servant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) had commanded be-fore, that they should bless the people of God Prevails (Israel).

34 And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings, and the cursings, according to all that is written in the book of the law.

35 There was not a word of all that Drawn (Moses) commanded, which I AM is Salvation (Joshua) read not before all the congregation of God Prevails (Israel), with the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that were conversant among them.

 

9

 

1 It came to pass, when all the kings which were on this side of The Descender (Jordan), in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea bordering Whiteness (Lebanon), the Terrors (Hittite), The Talkers, Sayers (Amorite), the Humbled Ones (Canaanites), the Village Dwellers (Perizzite), the Villagers (Hivites), and the Trodden Underfoot (Jebusite), heard thereof;

2 They gathered themselves together, to fight with I AM is Salvation (Joshua) and with God (‘Elohiym) Prevails (Israel), with one accord.

3 But when the inhabitants of Hill City (Gibeon) heard what I AM is Salva-tion (Joshua) had done to Its Moon (Jericho) and to Heap of Ruins (Ai),

4 They planned a deception and made it look like they were ambassadors, and took old sacks on their asses, and wine bottles that were old and torn, and bound up;

5 With old stained shoes on their feet, and old garments; and all the bread of their provision was dry and moldy.

6 They went to I AM is Salvation (Joshua), to the camp at Rolling Wheel (Gilgal) and said to him and to the men of God (‘Elohiym) Prevails (Israel): We come from a far country: now, therefore, make a league with us.

7 And the men of God (‘Elohiym) Prevails (Israel) said to the Villagers (Hivites): What if you dwell among us? How shall we make a league with you?

8 They answered I AM is Salvation (Joshua): We are your servants. Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said to them: Who are you? and from where do you come?

9 They answered him: Your servants have come from a very far country because of the name of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God ('Elohiym): for we have heard the fame of Him, and all that He did in Double Straights (Egypt),

10 And all that He did to the two kings of The Talkers, Sayers (Amorite), that were beyond The Descender (Jordan), to Warrior (Sihon) king of Stronghold (Heshbon), and to Long-Necked (Og) king of Fruitful (Bashan), which was at Star (Ashtaroth).

11 Therefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spoke to us, say-ing: Take food with you for the journey, and go to meet them, and say to them: We are your servants: therefore, now make a league with us.

12 This is our bread we took hot for our provision out of our houses on the day we came forth to go to you; but now, look, it is dry, and it is moldy:

13 These bottles of wine, which we filled new; look, they are torn: these gar-ments and our shoes are old because of the long journey.

14 And the men took of their food and did not ask counsel at the mouth of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah).

15 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) made peace with them, and made a league with them, to let them live: and the princes of the congregation swore to them.

16 But it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they were their neighbors and that they dwelt among them.

17 So the children of God (‘Elohiym) Prevails (Israel) journeyed, and came to their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Hill City (Gibeon), and Li-oness (Chephirah), Wells (Beeroth), and City of Forests (Kirjathjearim).

18 The children of God (‘Elohiym) Prevails (Israel) did not kill them, because the princes of the congregation had sworn to them by I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) God (‘Elohiym) of God (‘Elohiym) Prevails (Israel) but all the con-gregation murmured against the princes.

19 But all the princes said to all the congregation: We have sworn to them by I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) God (‘Elohiym) of God Prevails (Israel): now, therefore, we may not touch them.

20 This we will do to them; we will let them live, lest wrath comes on us, be-cause of the oath which we swore to them.

21 And the princes said to them: Let them live, but let them be hewers of wood and drawers of water to all the congregation; as the princes had prom-ised them.

22 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) called for them, and he spoke to them, saying: Why have you beguiled us, saying: We are very far from you; when you dwell among us?

23 Now, therefore, you are cursed, and there shall none of you be freed from being bondmen, and hewers of wood and drawers of water for the house of my God (‘Elohiym).

24 They answered I AM is Salvation (Joshua): Because it was certainly told to your servants, how that I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God (‘Elohiym) commanded his servant Drawn (Moses) to give you all the land and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you, therefore we were very afraid of our lives because of you, and have done this thing.

25 Now, look, we are in your hand: as it seems good and right to you to do to us, do.

26 So he did to them and delivered them out of the hand of the children of God (‘Elohiym) Prevails (Israel), that they did not slay them.

27 This is how I AM is Salvation (Joshua) made them hewers of wood and drawers of water for the congregation that day, and for the altar of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) to this day, in the place which He should choose.

 

10

 

1 Now it came to pass when My Lord is Righteous (Adonizedec) king of Rain of Peace (Jerusalem) had heard how I AM is Salvation (Joshua) had taken Heap of Ruins (Ai) and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Its Moon (Jericho) and her king and how he had done to Heap of Ruins (Ai) and her king; and how the inhabitants of Hill City (Gibeon) had made peace with God Prevails (Israel), and were among them;

2 They feared greatly, because Hill City (Gibeon) was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Heap of Ruins (Ai), and all the men thereof were mighty.

3 Therefore My Lord is Righteous (Adonizedec) king of Rain of Peace (Jeru-salem) sent to Who I AM (Jehovah) Drives (Hoham) king of Association (Hebron), and to Like a Wild Ass (Piram) king of Heights (Jarmuth), and to Shining (Japhia) king of Invincible (Lachish), and to Sanctuary (Debir) king of Calf-Like (Eglon), saying,

4 Come up to me, and help me, that we may destroy Hill City (Gibeon): for it has made peace with I AM is Salvation (Joshua) and with the children of God Prevails (Israel).

5 Therefore these five kings of the Talkers, Sayers (Amorites), the king of Rain of Peace (Jerusalem), the king of Association (Hebron), the king of Heights (Jarmuth), the king of Invincible (Lachish), the king of Calf-Like (Eglon), gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their troops, and encamped before Hill City (Gibeon), and made war against it.

6 So the men of Hill City (Gibeon) sent to I AM is Salvation (Joshua) to the camp to Rolling Wheel (Gilgal), saying: It is urgent that you send help to your servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of The Talkers, Sayers (Amorite) that dwell in the mountains are gathered to-gether against us.

7 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) went up from Rolling Wheel (Gilgal), he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor.

8 And I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) said to I AM is Salvation (Joshua): Fear them not: for I have delivered them into your hand; there shall not a man of them stand before you.

9 Therefore I AM is Salvation (Joshua) left immediately, and went up from Rolling Wheel (Gilgal) all night.

10 And I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) discomfited them before God Prevails (Israel), and slew them with a great slaughter at Hill City (Gibeon), and chased them along the way that goes up to House of Hollowness (Bethhoron), and smote them to Dug Over (Azekah), and to Place of Shepherds (Makkedah).

11 It came to pass, as they fled from before God Prevails (Israel), and were go-ing down to House of Hollowness (Bethhoron), that I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) cast down great stones from heaven on them to Dug Over (Azekah), and they died: there were more who died with hailstones than they whom the children of God Prevails (Israel) slew with the sword.

12 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) spoke to I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) in the day when I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) delivered up The Talkers, Sayers (Amorites) before the children of God Prevails (Israel), and he said in the sight of God Prevails (Israel): Sun, you stand still on Hill City (Gibeon); and you, Moon, in the valley of Field of Deer (Ajalon).

13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed until the people had avenged themselves on their enemies. Is not this written in the book of the Upright (Jasher)? So, the sun stood still in the midst of heaven and did not go down for about a whole day.

14 There was no day like that before it or after it, that I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) listened to the voice of a man: for I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) fought for God Prevails (Israel).

15 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) returned, and all God Prevails (Israel) with him, to the camp to Rolling Wheel (Gilgal).

16 But these five kings fled, and hid themselves in a cave at Place of Shep-herds (Makkedah).

17 It was told I AM is Salvation (Joshua), saying: The five kings are found hidden in a cave at Place of Shepherds (Makkedah).

18 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said: Roll great stones on the mouth of the cave, and set men by it to keep them:

19 The rest of you go, pursue after your enemies, and kill the last of them; do not permit them to enter into their cities: for I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God ('Elohiym) has delivered them into your hand.

20 So when I AM is Salvation (Joshua) and the children of God Prevails (Is-rael) had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, the rest which remained of them entered into fenced cities.

21 Then all the people returned to the camp with I AM is Salvation (Joshua) at Place of Shepherds (Makkedah) in peace: none moved his tongue against any of the children of God Prevails (Israel).

22 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said: Open the mouth of the cave and bring out those five kings to me out of the cave.

23 So they brought forth those five kings to him out of the cave, the king of Rain of Peace (Jerusalem), the king of Association (Hebron), the king of Heights (Jarmuth), the king of Invincible (Lachish), and the king of Calf-Like (Eglon).

24 When they brought out those kings to I AM is Salvation (Joshua), I AM is Salvation (Joshua) called for all the men of God Prevails (Israel) and said to the captains of the men of war which went with him: Come near, put your feet on the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet on the necks of them.

25 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said to them: Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) do to all your enemies against whom you fight.

26 Afterward I AM is Salvation (Joshua) smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they hung on the trees until the evening.

27 Then at the time of the going down of the sun, I AM is Salvation (Joshua) gave the order for them to be taken down off the trees, cast into the cave where they had been hiding and that great stones be laid in the cave's mouth, which remain until this very day.

28 On that day I AM is Salvation (Joshua) took Place of Shepherds (Makkedah), and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Place of Shepherds (Makkedah) as he did to the king of Its Moon (Jericho).

29 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) passed from Place of Shepherds (Makkedah), and all God Prevails (Israel) with him, to Pavement (Libnah), and fought against Pavement (Libnah):

30 And I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) delivered it also, and the king thereof, in-to the hand of God Prevails (Israel); and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain in it; but did to the king thereof as he did to the king of Its Moon (Jericho).

31 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) passed from Pavement (Libnah), and all God Prevails (Israel) with him, to Invincible (Lachish), and encamped against it, and fought against it:

32 There I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) delivered Invincible (Lachish) into the hand of God Prevails (Israel). They took it on the second day and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein, according to all that he had done to Pavement (Libnah).

33 Then Exalted (Horam) king of Portion (Gezer) came up to help Invincible (Lachish); and I AM is Salvation (Joshua) smote him and his people until there were none remaining.

34 And from Invincible (Lachish) I AM is Salvation (Joshua) passed to Calf-Like (Eglon), and all God Prevails (Israel) with him, and they encamped against it, and fought against it:

35 They took it on that day and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed that day, according to all that he had done to Invincible (Lachish).

36 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) went up from Calf-Like (Eglon), and all God Prevails (Israel) with him, to Association (Hebron); and they fought against it:

37 They took it as well and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Calf-Like (Eglon); but destroyed it utterly, and all the souls that were therein.

38 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) returned, and all God Prevails (Israel) with him, to Sanctuary (Debir); and fought against it:

39 He took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining: as he had done to Association (Hebron), so he did to Sanctuary (Debir), and to the king thereof; as he had done also to Libnah, and to her king.

40 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none re-maining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) God ('Elohiym) of God Prevails (Israel) commanded.

41 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) smote them from Holy (Kadeshbarnea) all the way to The Strong (Gaza), and all the country of Drawing Near (Goshen), even to Hill City (Gibeon).

42 All these kings and their land I AM is Salvation (Joshua) took at one time, because I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), God (‘Elohiym) of God Prevails (Israel) fought for God Prevails (Israel).

43 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) returned, and all God Prevails (Israel) with him, to the camp to Rolling Wheel (Gilgal).

1 It came to pass when Whom God Observes (Jabin) king of Castle (Hazor) had heard those things, that he sent to A Desert (Jobab) king of Strife (Ma-don), and to the king of Watch-Height (Shimron), and to the king of I Shall Be Bewitched (Achshaph),

2 And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Harps (Chinneroth), and in the valley, and in the borders of Genera-tion (Dor) on the west,

3 And to the Humbled Ones (Canaanite) on the east and on the west, and to The Talkers, Sayers (Amorite), and the Terrors (Hittite), and the Village Dwellers (Perizzite), and the Trodden Underfoot (Jebusite) in the mountains, and to the Villagers (Hivite) under Sanctuary (Hermon) in the land of Watch-tower (Watchtower (Mizpeh)).

4 All of these went out, with all their hosts, many people, like the sand upon the sea shore in multitude, with many horses and chariots.

5 When all these kings met together, they came and pitched together at the wa-ters of High Place (Merom), to fight against God Prevails (Israel).

6 Then I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) said to I AM is Salvation (Joshua): Be not afraid because of them: for tomorrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before God Prevails (Israel): you shall hamstring their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

7 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of High Place (Merom) suddenly; and they fell on them.

8 And I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) delivered them into the hand of God Pre-vails (Israel), who smote them, and chased them to great Hunter/Fisher (Zi-don), and to Burnings of Water (Misrephothmaim), and to the valley of east-ward; and they smote them until they left them none remaining.

 

9 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) did to them as I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) bade him: he hamstrung their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

10 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) at that time turned back, and took Castle (Hazor), and smote the king thereof with the sword: for before that Castle (Hazor) was the head of all those kingdoms.

11 They smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utter-ly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Castle (Hazor) with fire.

12 As well as all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, I AM is Salvation (Joshua) took and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he ut-terly destroyed them, as Drawn (Moses) the servant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) commanded.

13 But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, God Prevails (Israel) burned none of them, except Castle (Hazor) only; that I AM is Salvation (Joshua) burned.

14 All the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of God Prevails (Is-rael) took for a prey to themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.

15 As I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) commanded Drawn (Moses) his servant, so did Drawn (Moses) command I AM is Salvation (Joshua), and so did I AM is Salvation (Joshua); he left nothing undone of all that I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) commanded Drawn (Moses).

16 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Drawing Near (Goshen), and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of God Prevails (Israel), and the valley of the same;

17 From Mount Smooth (Halak), that goes up to Shaggy (Seir), all the way to Lord of Fortune (Baalgad) in the valley of Whiteness (Lebanon) under Mount Sanctuary (Hermon): all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them.

18 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) made war a long time with all those kings.

19 There was not a city that made peace with the children of God Prevails (Is-rael), save the Villagers (Hivite)s the inhabitants of Hill City (Gibeon): all others they took in battle.

20 For it was of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) to harden their hearts, that they should come against God Prevails (Israel) in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favor, but that he might destroy them, as I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) commanded Drawn (Moses).

21 At that time I AM is Salvation (Joshua) came and cut off the Long-Necks (Anakims) from the mountains, from Association (Hebron), from Sanctuary (Debir), from Fruit (Anab), and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of God Prevails (Israel): I AM is Salvation (Joshua) destroyed them utterly with their cities.

22 There was none of the Long-Necks (Anakims) left in the land of the chil-dren of God Prevails (Israel): only in The Strong (Gaza), in Winepress (Gath), and in Powerful (Ashdod) they remained.

23 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) took the whole land, according to all that I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) said to Drawn (Moses); and I AM is Salvation (Joshua) gave it for an inheritance to God Prevails (Israel) according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

1 Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of God Prevails (Is-rael) smote, and possessed their land on the other side The Descender (Jordan) toward the rising of the sun, from the river Rushing Stream (Arnon) to Mount Sanctuary (Hermon), and all the plain on the east:

2 Warrior (Sihon) king of The Talkers, Sayers (Amorites), who dwelt in Stronghold (Heshbon), and ruled from Ruins (Aroer), which is upon the bank of the river Rushing Stream (Arnon), and from the middle of the river, and in-cluding the half of Rocky Region (Gilead) extending to the river Emptying (Jabbok), which is the border of the children of Tribal (Ammon);

3 And from the plain to the sea of Harps (Chinneroth) on the east, and to the sea of the plain, even the salt sea on the east, the way to House of the Desola-tion (Bethjeshimoth); and from the south, under Springs Pouring Out of the Mountain (Ashdothpisgah):

4 And the coast of Long-Necked (Og) king of Fruitful (Bashan), which was of the remnant of the giants, that dwelt at Star (Ashtaroth) and at Goodly Pasture (Edrei),

5 And reigned in Mount Sanctuary (Hermon), and in Migration (Salcah), and in all Fruitful (Bashan), to the border of the children of From the Bridge (Ge-shurites) and the children of Oppression (Maachah), and the half of Rocky Region (Gilead), to the border of Warrior (Sihon) king of Stronghold (Hesh-bon).

6 These Drawn (Moses) the servant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) and the children of God Prevails (Israel) smote: and Drawn (Moses) the servant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) gave it for a possession to the children of Behold a Son (Reuben), and the Children of Troop (Gad), and the half-tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh)

7 And these are the kings of the country which I AM is Salvation (Joshua) and the children of God Prevails (Israel) smote on this side The Descender (Jor-dan) on the west, from Lord of Fortune (Baalgad) in the valley of Whiteness (Lebanon) to the Mount Smooth (Halak), that goes up to Shaggy (Seir); which I AM is Salvation (Joshua) gave to the tribes of God Prevails (Israel) for a possession according to their divisions;

8 In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Terrors (Hittite), The Talkers, Sayers (Amorites), and the Humbled Ones (Canaanites), the Those Belonging to a Village (Perizzites), the Villagers (Hivites), and the Trodden Underfoot (Jebusites):

9 The king of Its Moon (Jericho), one; the king of Heap of Ruins (Ai), which is beside The House of God (Bethel), one;

10 The king of Rain of Peace (Jerusalem), one; the king of Association (Heb-ron), one;

11 The king of Heights (Jarmuth), one; the king of Invincible (Lachish), one;

12 The king of Calf-Like (Eglon), one; the king of Portion (Gezer), one;

13 The king of Sanctuary (Debir), one; the king of Wall (Geder), one;

17 The king of The Apple City (Tappuah), one; the king of A Well (Hepher), one;

18 The king of Enclosure (Aphek), one; the king of A Plain (Lasharon), one;

19 The king of Strife (Madon), one; the king of Castle (Hazor), one;

20 The king of Watch-Height of Prosperity (Shimronmeron), one; the king of I Shall Be Bewitched (Achshaph), one;

21 The king of Sandy (Taanach), one; the king of Place of Crowds (Megiddo), one;

22 The king of Holy Place (Kedesh), one; the king of The People Lament (Jokneam) of Garden-Land (Carmel), one;

23 The king of Generation (Dor) in the coast of Generation (Dor), one; the king of the nations of Rolling Wheel (Gilgal), one;

24 The king of Favorable (Tirzah), one: all the kings thirty and one.

1 Now I AM is Salvation (Joshua) was old and stricken in years; and I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) said to him: You are old and stricken in years, and there remains yet very much land to be possessed.

2 This is the land that yet remains: all the territory of the Immigrants (Philis-tines) and all From the Bridge (Geshuri),

3 From the river Dark (Sihor), which borders Double Straights (Egypt), to the borders of Torn Up by the Roots (Ekron) northward, which is counted to the Humbled Ones (Canaanite): five lords of the Immigrants (Philistines); The Strong Ones (Gazathites), The Powerful Ones (Ashdothites), Those of the Cluster (Eshkalonites), Those Belonging to Winepress (Gath - Gittites), those Torn Up by the Roots (Ekronites); and also the Perverters (Avites):

4 From the south, all the land of the Humbled Ones (Canaanites), and Cave (Mearah) that is beside the Hunter/Fishers (Sidonians) to Enclosure (Aphek), to the borders of The Talkers, Sayers (Amorite):

5 The land of the Stone-Squarers (Giblites), and all of Whiteness (Lebanon), toward the sunrising, from Lord of Fortune (Baalgad) under Mount Sanctuary (Hermon) to the entering into Fortress (Hamath).

6 All the inhabitants of the hill country from Whiteness (Lebanon) to Burn-ings of Water (Misrephothmaim), and all the Hunter/Fishers (Sidonians), those I will drive out from before the children of God Prevails (Israel): divide it by lot to the children of God Prevails (Israelites) for an inheritance, as I have commanded you.

7 Now therefore divide this land for an inheritance to the nine tribes, and the half tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh),

8 With whom the Tribe of Behold a Son (Reuben) and the Tribe of Troop (Gadites) have received their inheritance, which the Tribe of Troop (Gadites) gave them, beyond The Descender (Jordan) eastward, as Tribe of Troop (Gadites) the servants of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) gave to them;

9 From Ruins (Aroer), that is on the bank of the river Rushing Stream (Ar-non), the city that is in the midst of the river, and all the plain of Water of Rest (Medeba) to Wasting (Dibon);

10 All the cities of Warrior (Sihon) king of The Talkers, Sayers (Amorite), which reigned in Stronghold (Heshbon), to the border of the children of Trib-al (Ammon);

11 And Rocky Region (Gilead), and the territory of the tribe of From the Bridge (Geshurites) and Oppression (Maachathites), and all Mount Sanctuary (Hermon), and all Fruitful (Bashan) to Migration (Salchah);

12 All the kingdom of Long-Necked (Og) in Fruitful (Bashan), which reigned in Queen of Heaven (Ashteroth) and in Goodly Pasture (Edrei), who remained of the remnant of the giants: these the Tribe of Troop (Gadites) smote, and cast them out.

13 Nevertheless the children of God Prevails (Israel) expelled not the tribe of From the Bridge (Geshurites), nor the tribe of Oppression (Maachathites): but the children of From the Bridge (Geshurites) and those of Oppression (Maachathites) dwell among the God Prevails (Israelites) until this day.

14 Only to the tribes of Joined To (Levi) he gave no inheritance; the sacrifices of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) God of God Prevails (Israel) made by fire are their inheritance, as He said to them.

15 And the Tribe of Troop (Gadites) gave to the tribe of the children of Be-hold a Son (Behold a Son (Reuben)) inheritance according to their families.

16 Their border was from Ruins (Aroer), which is on the bank of the river Rushing Stream (Arnon), and the city that is in the midst of the river, and all the plain by Water of Rest (Medeba);

17 Stronghold (Heshbon), and all her cities that are in the plain; Wasting (Dibon), and High Place of the Great High Place (Bamothbaal), and Hide Out of the Great High Place (Bethbaalmeon),

18 Along with Trodden Down (Jahaza), Eastern (Kedemoth), Splendor Height (Mephaath),

19 Double City (Kirjathaim), Fragrance (Sibmah), Splendor of the Dawn (Za-rethshahar) in the mount of the valley,

20 House of Cleft (Bethpeor), Springs Pouring Out of the Mountain (Ash-dothpisgah), and House of the Desolation (Bethjeshimoth),

21 And all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Warrior (Sihon) king of The Talkers, Sayers (Amorite), which reigned in Stronghold (Heshbon), whom Tribe of Troop (Gadites) smote with the princes of Strife (Midian), My Desire (Evi), and Variegation (Rekem), and Rock (Zur), and Cavern (Hur), and Four (Reba), which were dukes of Warrior (Sihon), dwelling in the coun-try.

22 The children of God Prevails (Israel) slayed Not of the People (Balaam) the son of Burning (Beor), the soothsayer, with the sword. He was among them that were slain by them.

23 So the border of the children of Behold a Son (Reuben) was The Descend-er (Jordan), and the border thereof. This was the inheritance of the children of Behold a Son (Reuben) after their families, the cities, and the villages thereof.

24 The Tribe of Troop (Gadites) gave an inheritance to the tribe of Troop (Gad), even to the children of Troop (Gad) according to their families.

25 Their territory was Helped (Jazer), and all the cities of Rocky Region (Gil-ead), and half the land of the children of Tribal (Ammon), to Ruins (Aroer) that is before Great (Rabbah);

26 And from Stronghold (Heshbon) to High Place of the Watch Tower (Ra-mathmizpeh), Pistachio Nuts (Betonim); and from Two Camps (Mahanaim) to the border of Sanctuary (Debir);

27 In the valley, Place of the Height (Betharam), and House of the Leopard (Bethnimrah), and House of the Leopard (Bethnimrah), and North (Zaphon), the rest of the kingdom of Warrior (Sihon) king of Stronghold (Heshbon), The Descender (Jordan) and his border, and to the edge of the sea of Harps (Chinnereth) on the other side The Descender (Jordan) eastward.

28 This is the inheritance of the children of Troop (Gad) after their families, the cities, and their villages.

29 And the Tribe of Troop (Gadites) gave an inheritance to the half-tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh): and this was the possession of the half-tribe of the children of Causing to Forget (Manasseh) by their families.

30 Their territory was from Two Camps (Mahanaim), all Fruitful (Bashan), all the kingdom of Long-Necked (Og) king of Fruitful (Bashan), and all the towns of He Enlightens (Jair), which are in Fruitful (Bashan), sixty cities:

31 A half of Rocky Region (Gilead), Queen of Heaven (Ashteroth), and Goodly Pasture (Edrei). These cities of the kingdom of Og in Fruitful (Ba-shan), were pertaining to the children of Sold (Machir) the son of Causing to Forget (Manasseh), to one-half of the children of Sold (Machir) by their fami-lies.

32 These are the countries which the Tribe of Troop (Gadites) distributed for inheritance in the plains of Of His Father (Moab), on the other side The De-scender (Jordan), by Its Moon (Jericho), eastward.

33 But to the tribe of Joined To (Levi) Tribe of Troop (Gadites) gave not any inheritance: I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) God of God Prevails (Israel) was their inheritance, as He said to them.

1 These are the countries which the children of God Prevails (Israel) inherited in the land of Humbled One (Canaan), which God Has Helped (Eleazar) the priest, and I AM is Salvation (Joshua) the son of Posterity (Nun), and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of God Prevails (Israel), dis-tributed as an inheritance to them.

2 Their inheritance was by lot, as I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) commanded by the hand of Drawn (Moses), for the nine tribes, and for the half-tribe.

3 Drawn (Moses) had given the inheritance of two tribes and a half-tribe on the other side of The Descender (Jordan): but to the Children of Joined To (Levites) he gave no inheritance among them.

4 For the children of I AM Will Add (Joseph) were two tribes, Causing to Forget (Manasseh) and Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraim): except they gave no part to the Children of Joined To (Levites) in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.

5 As I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) commanded Drawn (Moses), so the children of God Prevails (Israel) did, and they divided the land.

6 Then the children of Praised (Judah) came to I AM is Salvation (Joshua) in Rolling Wheel (Gilgal): and Dog (Caleb) the son of He Will Be Prepared (Jephunneh) the Hunter (Kenezite) said to him: You know what I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) said to Drawn (Moses) the man of God ('Elohiym). concern-ing you and me in Holy (Kadeshbarnea).

7 I was forty years old when Drawn (Moses) the servant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) sent me from Holy (Kadeshbarnea) to spy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in my heart.

8 Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) my God ('Elohiym).

9 Drawn (Moses) swore on that day, saying: Surely the land whereon your feet have trodden shall be your inheritance, and your children's forever, be-cause you have wholly followed I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) my God ('Elo-hiym).

10 And now, behold, I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, since I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) spoke this word to Drawn (Moses), while the children of God Prevails (Israel) wandered in the wilderness: and now, I am this day eighty-five years old.

11 As yet, I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Drawn (Moses) sent me: as my strength was then, even so, is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.

12 Now, therefore, give me this mountain, whereof I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Long-Necks (Anakims) were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) said.

13 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) blessed him, and gave to Dog (Caleb) the son of He Will Be Prepared (Jephunneh) Association (Hebron) for an inher-itance.

14 Association (Hebron), therefore, became the inheritance of Dog (Caleb) the son of He Will Be Prepared (Jephunneh) the Hunter (Kenezite) to this day, be-cause he wholly followed I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) God ('Elohiym) of God Prevails (Israel).

15 The name of Association (Hebron) before was City of the Four (Kirjathar-ba); because Four (Arba) was a great man among the Long-Necks (Anakims). And the land had rest from war.

1 This then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Praised (Judah) by their families; from the border of Red (Edom) the wilderness of Flat (Zin) south-ward was the uttermost part of the south coast.

2 And their south border was from the shore of the salt sea, from the bay that looks southward:

3 And it went out to the south side to Ascent of Scorpions (Maalehacrabbim), and passed along to Flat (Zin), and ascended up on the south side to Holy (Kadeshbarnea), and passed along to Surrounded By a Wall (Hezron), and went up to Exceeding Glorious (Adar), and then up to Floor (Karkaa):

4 From there it passed toward Strong (Azmon) and went out to the river of Double Straights (Egypt), and along the sea: this shall be your southern bor-der.

5 The east border was the salt sea to the end of The Descender (Jordan). And their border in the north quarter was from the bay of the sea at the uttermost part of The Descender (Jordan):

6 And the border went up to House of the Partridge (Bethhogla), and passed along by the north of House of the Desert Valley (Betharabah; then the border went up to the stone of Thumb (Bohan) the son of Behold a Son (Reuben):

7 From there the border went up toward Sanctuary (Debir) from the valley of Trouble (Achor), and so northward, looking toward Rolling Wheel (Gilgal), that is before going up to Red Spots (Adummim), which is on the south side of the river: and the border passed toward the waters of Fountain of the Sun (Enshemesh), and the goings out thereof were at Fountain of the Fuller (En-rogel):

8 Then the border went up by the valley of the son of Lamentation (Hinnom) to the south side of the Trodden Underfoot (Jebusite); the same is Rain of Peace (Jerusalem): and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Lamentation (Hinnom) westward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward:

9 The border was drawn from the top of the hill to the fountain of the water of Opening (Nephtoah), and went out to the cities of Mount Fawn-Like (Eph-ron); and the border was drawn to Mistress (Baalah), which is City of Forests (Kirjathjearim):

10 The border ran from Mistress (Baalah) westward to Mount Shaggy (Seir), and passed along to the side of Mount Forests (Jearim), which is Hopes (Chesalon), on the north side, and went down to House of the Sun (Beth-shemesh), and passed on to Restrained (Timna):

11 From there the border went out to the side of Torn Up by the Roots (Ekron) northward: and the border was drawn to Drunkenness (Shicron), it passed along to Mount Mistress (Baalah), and went out to God Causes to Build (Jabneel), and the goings out of the border were at the sea.

12 The west border was the Great Sea and the coast thereof. This is the territo-ry of the children of Praised (Judah) round about according to their families.

13 To Dog (Caleb) the son of He Will Face (Jephunneh) he gave a part among the children of Praised (Judah), according to the commandment of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) to I AM is Salvation (Joshua): the city of Four (Arba) the father of Neck (Anak), which city is Association (Hebron).

14 Dog (Caleb) drove out from there the three sons of Neck (Anak), Noble (Sheshai), and My Brother is a Gift (Ahiman), and Furrowed (Talmai), the children of Neck (Anak).

15 Then he went up there to the inhabitants of Sanctuary (Debir): and the name of Sanctuary (Debir) before was City of the Book (Kirjathsepher).

16 And Dog (Caleb) said: He that smites City of the Book (Kirjathsepher), and taketh it, to him will I give Anklet (Achsah) my daughter to wife.

17 So Lion of God (Othniel) the son of Hunter (Kenaz), the brother of Dog (Caleb), took it: and he gave him Anklet (Achsah) his daughter to wife.

18 It came to pass, as she came to him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Dog (Caleb) said to her: What would you like?

19 She answered: Give me a blessing; for you have given me a south land; give me also springs of water. So, he gave her the upper springs and the Abundant (Ether) springs.

20 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Praised (Judah) ac-cording to their families.

21 The uttermost cities of the tribe of the children of Praised (Judah) toward the coast of Red (Edom) southward were God Gathers (Kabzeel), A Flock (Eder), and He Sojourns (Jaguar),

22 Lamentation (Kinah), Silent River Bed (Dimonah), and Festival (Adadah),

23 Holy Place (Kedesh), Castle (Hazor), and Hire (Ithnan),

24 Battlement (Battlement (Ziph), Oppression (Telem), and Mistresses (Bealoth),

25 Castle (Hazor), New Castle (Hadattah), Cities (Kerioth), and Surrounded by a Wall (Hezron), which is Castle (Hazor),

26 Their Mother (Amam), Hear (Shema), and Birth Race (Moladah),

27 Village of Good Fortune (Hazargaddah), Rich Soil (Heshmon), and House of Escape (Bethpalet),

56 God Sows (Jezreel), Burning People (Jokdeam), and Cast Off (Zanoah),

57 Possession (Cain), Hill (Gibeah), and Restrained (Timna); ten cities with their villages:

58 Trembling (Halhul), House of the Rock (Bethzur), and Wall (Gedor),

59 Bareness (Maarath), House of Responses (Bethanoth), and God is Straight (Eltekon); six cities with their villages:

60 City of Baal (Kirjathbaal), which is City of Forests (Kirjathjearim), and Great (Rabbah); two cities with their villages:

61 In the wilderness, House of the Desert Valley (Betharabah), Measures (Middin), and Thicket (Secacah),

62 Soft Soil (Nibshan), and the City of Salt (Ir-hammelech), and Spring of the Kid (Engedi); six cities with their villages.

63 As for the Trodden Underfoot (Jebusites) the inhabitants of Rain of Peace (Jerusalem), the children of Praised (Judah) could not drive them out; but the Trodden Underfoot (Jebusites) dwell with the children of Praised (Judah) at Rain of Peace (Jerusalem) to this day.

1 The lot of the children of I AM Will Add (Joseph) fell from The Descender (Jordan) by Its Moon (Jericho), to the water of Its Moon (Jericho) on the east, to the wilderness that goes up from Its Moon (Jericho) throughout Mount House of God (Bethel),

2 From there it goes out from The House of God (Bethel) to Almond Tree (Luz), and passes along to the borders of Lengthy (Archi) to Crowns (Ata-roth),

3 Then it goes down westward to the coast of Let Him Escape (Japhleti), to the coast of House of Hollowness (Bethhoron) the nether, and to Portion (Gezer); and on to the sea.

4 So the children of I AM Will Add (Joseph), Causing to Forget (Manasseh), and Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraim), took their inheritance.

5 The border of the children of Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraim) according to their families was this: the border of their inheritance on the east side was Crowns of Glory (Atarothaddar), to House of Hollowness (Bethhoron) the upper;

6 The border went out toward the sea to Hiding Place (Michmethah) on the north side, and the border went about eastward to Approach to Tranquility (Taanathshiloh), and passed by it on the east to He Rests (Janohah);

7 Then it went down from He Rests (Janohah) to Crowns (Ataroth), and to Maiden (Naarath), and came to Its Moon (Jericho), and ended at The Descend-er (Jordan).

8 The border went out from The Apple City (Tappuah) westward to the river Reed (Kanah), and the goings out thereof were at the sea. This is the inher-itance of the tribe of the children of Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraim) by their families.

9 And the separate cities for the children of Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruit-ful (Ephraim) were among the inheritance of the children of Causing to Forget (Manasseh), all the cities with their villages.

10 But they did not drive out the Humbled Ones (Canaanites) that dwelt in Portion (Gezer): but the Humbled Ones (Canaanites) dwell among the Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraimites) to this day, and serve under tribute.

1There was also a lot for the tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh); for he was the firstborn of I AM Will Add (Joseph); to wit, for Sold (Machir) the firstborn of Causing to Forget (Manasseh), the father of Rocky Region (Gile-ad): because he was a man of war, therefore he had Rocky Region (Gilead) and Fruitful (Bashan).

2 There was also a lot for the rest of the children of Causing to Forget (Manas-seh) by their families; for the children of My Father is Help (Abiezer), and for the children of Portion (Helek), and for the children of I Shall Be Prince of God (Asriel), and for the children of Shoulder (Shechem), and for the children of A Well (Hepher), and for the children of Wise (Shemida): these were the male children of Causing to Forget (Manasseh) the son of I AM Will Add (Jo-seph) by their families.

3 But First-born (Zelophehad), the son of A Well (Hepher), the son of Rocky Region (Gilead), the son of Sold (Machir), the son of Causing to Forget (Ma-nasseh), had no sons, but daughters: and these are the names of his daughters, Disease (Mahlah), Rest (Noah), Partridge (Hoglah), Queen (Milcah), and Fa-vorable (Tirzah).

4 They came before God Has Helped (Eleazar) the priest, and before I AM is Salvation (Joshua) the son of Posterity (Nun), and before the princes, saying, I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) commanded Drawn (Moses) to give us an inher-itance among our brethren. Therefore, according to the commandment of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.

5 There were ten portions to Causing to Forget (Manasseh), beside the land of Rocky Region (Gilead) and Fruitful (Bashan), which were on the other side of The Descender (Jordan);

6 Because the daughters of Causing to Forget (Manasseh) had an inheritance among his sons: and the rest of Causing to Forget's (Manasseh) sons had the land of Rocky Region (Gilead).

7 The border of Causing to Forget (Manasseh) was from Happy (Asher) to Hiding Place (Michmethah), which lies before Shoulder (Shechem); and the border went along on the right hand to the inhabitants of Fountain of the Ap-ple City (Entappuah).

8 Now Causing to Forget (Manasseh) had the land of The Apple City (Tap-puah): but The Apple City (Tappuah) on the border of Causing to Forget (Manasseh) belonged to the children of Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraim);

9 The border descended to the river Reed (Kanah), southward of the river: these cities of Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraim) are among the cities of Causing to Forget (Manasseh): the coast of Causing to Forget (Ma-nasseh) also was on the north side of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the sea:

10 Southward it was Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraim)'s, and northward it was Causing to Forget's (Manasseh), and the sea is his border and they met together in Happy (Asher) on the north, and in Recompense (Issa-char) on the east.

11 Causing to Forget (Manasseh) had in Recompense (Issachar) and in Happy (Asher) House of Ease (Bethshean) and her towns, Devouring People (Ibleam) and her towns, the inhabitants of Generation (Dor) and her towns, the inhabit-ants of Fountain of Generation (Endor) and her towns, the inhabitants of Sandy (Taanach) and her towns, and the inhabitants of Place of Crowds (Me-giddo) and her towns, three countries.

12 Yet the children of Causing to Forget (Manasseh) could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities, but the Humbled Ones (Canaanites) would dwell in that land.

13 Yet it came to pass, when the children of God Prevails (Israel) grew strong, that they put the Humbled Ones (Canaanites) to tribute, but did not utterly drive them out.

14 The children of I AM Will Add (Joseph) spoke to I AM is Salvation (Josh-ua), saying: Why have you given us but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing we are a great people, forasmuch as I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) has blessed us so far?

15 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) answered them: If you are a great people, then go up to the wood country, and cut down for yourself there in the land of the Those Belonging to a Village (Perizzites) and of the giants, if mount Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraim) is too small for you.

16 But the children of I AM Will Add (Joseph) said: The hill is not enough for us: and all the Humbled Ones (Canaanites) that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of House of Ease (Bethshean) and her towns and they who are of the valley of God Sows (Jezreel).

17 I AM is Salvation (Joshua)  answered the house of I AM Will Add (Joseph), Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraim) and Causing to Forget (Manasseh), saying: You are a great people, and have great power: you shall not have one lot only:

18 But the mountain shall be yours; for it is a wood, and you shall cut it down: the outgoings of it shall be yours: for you shalt drive out the Humbled Ones (Canaanites), even though they have iron chariots, and though they are strong.

1 Then the whole congregation of the children of God Prevails (Israel) assembled together at Tranquility (Shiloh), and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.

2 There remained among the children of God Prevails (Israel) seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.

3 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said to the children of God Prevails (Israel): How long are you going to wait to go to possess the land, which I AM, God (Yehovah-Elohyim) of your fathers, has given you?

4 Take out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them. They shall rise, go through the land, and describe it according to their inheritance, and they shall come again to me.

5 They shall divide it into seven parts: Praised (Judah) shall abide in their territory on the south, and the house of I AM Will Add (Joseph) shall abide in their territory on the north.

6 You shall therefore describe the land in seven parts, and bring the description here to me, that I may cast lots for you here before I AM our God (Yehovah-Elohyim).

7 But the Children of Joined To (Levites) have no part among you; for the priesthood of I AM (Lord) is their inheritance: Troop (Gad), Behold a Son (Reuben), and half the tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh), have received their inheritance beyond The Descender (Jordan) on the east, which Drawn (Moses) the servant of I AM (Lord) gave them.

8 So, the men arose, and went away: and I AM is Salvation (Joshua) charged them that went to describe the land, saying: Go and walk through the land, describe it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before I AM (Lord) in Tranquility (Shiloh).

9 So the men went and passed through the land, and described it by cities into seven parts in a book, and came again to I AM is Salvation (Joshua) to the host at Tranquility (Shiloh).

10 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) cast lots for them in Tranquility (Shiloh) before I AM (Yehovah Lord): and there I AM is Salvation (Joshua) divided the land to the children of God Prevails (Israel) according to their divisions.

11 The lot of the tribe of the children of Son of the Right Hand (Benjamin) came up according to their families: and the border of their lot lay between the children of Praised (Judah) and the children of I AM Will Add (Joseph).

12 Their border on the north side was from The Descender (Jordan), and the border went up to the side of Its Moon (Jericho) on the north side, and went up through the mountains westward; the goings out thereof were at the wilderness of House of Vanity (Bethaven).

13 And the border went over from there toward Almond Tree (Luz), to the side of Almond Tree (Luz), which is Almond Tree (Luz), southward; and the border descended to Crowns of Glory (Atarothadar), near the hill that lies on the south side of the nether House of Hollowness (Bethhoron).

14 The border was drawn from there. It turned at the corner of the sea southward, from the hill that lies before House of Hollowness (Bethhoron) southward. From there it went to City of Baal (Kirjathbaal), which is City of Forests (Kirjathjearim), a city of the children of Praised (Judah): this was the west quarter.

15 The south quarter was from the end of City of Forests (Kirjathjearim), and the border went out on the west, and went out to the well of waters of Opening (Nephtoah):

16 Then the border came down to the end of the mountain that lies before the valley of the son of Lamentation (Hinnom), and which is in the valley of the giants on the north, and descended to the valley of Lamentation (Hinnom), to the side of Trodden Underfoot (Jebusi) on the south, and descended to Fountain of the Fuller (Enrogel),

17 It was then drawn from the north, and went out to Fountain of the Sun (Enshemesh), and went out toward Circuits (Geliloth), which is over against the going up of Red Spots (Adummim), and descended to the stone of Thumb (Bohan) the son of Behold a Son (Reuben),

18 It passed along toward the side over against Desert Plain (Arabah) northward, and went down to Desert Plain (Arabah):

19 Then the border passed along to the side of House of the Partridge (Bethhoglah) northward: and the outgoings of the border were at the north bay of the salt sea at the south end of The Descender (Jordan): this was the southern border.

20 The Descender (Jordan) was the border of it on the east side. This was the inheritance of the children of Son of the Right Hand (Benjamin), by the boundaries thereof round about, according to their families.

21 Now the cities of the tribe of the children of Son of the Right Hand (Benjamin) according to their families were Its Moon (Jericho), House of the Partridge (Bethhoglah), and the valley of Cut-Off (Keziz),

22 House of the Desert Valley (Betharabah), Double Fleece of Wool (Zemaraim), and Almond Tree (Luz),

23 Ruins (Avim), Heifer-Town (Pharah), and Fawn (Ophrah),

24 Village of the Talkers, Sayers (Chepharhaammonai), Moldy (Ophni), and Hill (Gaba); twelve cities with their villages:

25 Hill City (Gibeon), The Height (Ramah), and Wells (Beeroth),

26 Watchtower (Mizpeh), Lioness (Chephirah), and Fountain (Mozah),

27 Variegation (Rekem), God Will Heal (Irpeel), and Reeling (Taralah),

28 A Rib (Zelah), Thousand (Eleph), and Trodden Underfoot (Jebusi), which is Rain of Peace (Jerusalem), Hill (Gibeath), and City of Forests (Kirjath); fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the children of Son of the Right Hand (Benjamin) according to their families.

1 The second lot fell to Heard (Simeon), for the tribe of the children of Heard (Simeon) according to their families: and their inheritance was within the in-heritance of the children of Praised (Judah).

2 They had in their inheritance Well of the Sevenfold Oath (Beersheba), An Oath (Sheba), and Birth Race (Moladah),

3 Jackal Village (Hazarshual), Worn Out (Balah), and Bone (Azem),

4 God’s Generations (Eltolad), God Destroys (Bethul), and Devotion (Hormah),

5 Winding (Ziklag), House of the Chariots (Bethmarcaboth), and Horse Village (Hazarsusah),

6 House of Lionesses (Bethlebaoth), and Refuge of Grace (Sharuhen); thirteen cities and their villages:

7 Spring (Ain), Pomegranate (Remmon), Abundant (Ether), and Smoke (Ashan); four cities and their villages:

8 All the villages that were round about these cities to Mistress of the Well (Baalathbeer) and Hill (Ramath) of the south. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Heard (Simeon) according to their families.

9 Out of the portion of the children of Praised (Judah) was the inheritance of the children of Heard (Simeon): for the part of the children of Praised (Judah) was too much for them: therefore, the children of Heard (Simeon) had their inheritance within the inheritance of them.

10 The third lot came up for the children of Exalted (Zebulun) according to their families. The border of their inheritance from Survivor (Sarid)

11 Went up toward the sea, and Trembling (Maralah), and reached to Hill-Place (Dabbasheth), then reached to the river that is before The People Lament (Jokneam);

12 It turned from Survivor (Sarid) eastward toward the sun rising to the border of Flanks of the Mound (Chislothtabor), and then goes out to Word (Daberath), and on up to Shining (Japhia),

13 From there, it passes on along on the east to Wine-Press of the Well (Gittahhepher), to Time of the Judge (Ittahkazin), and goes out to Pomegranate Drawing (Remmonmethoar) to Shaking (Neah);

14 The border then goes around on the north side to Gracious (Hannathon): and the outgoings thereof are in the valley of God Opens (Jiphthahel):

15 Small (Kattath), Pasture (Nahallal), Watch-Height (Shimron), Memorial of God (Idalah), and House of Bread (Bethlehem): twelve cities with their villages.

16 This is the inheritance of the children of Exalted (Zebulun) according to their families, these cities with their villages.

17 The fourth lot came out to Recompense (Issachar), for the children of Recompense (Issachar) according to their families.

18 Their border was from God Sows (Jezreel), Flanks (Chesulloth), and Double Resting Place (Shunem),

19 Two Pits (Haphraim), Ruin (Shihon), and The Groaning of Fear (Anaharath),

20 Multitude (Rabbith), Hard (Kishion), and I Will Make White (Abez),

21 Height (Remeth), Fountain of the Garden (Engannim), Swift Fountain (Enhaddah), and House of Dispersion (Bethpazzez);

22 And the border reaches to Mound (Tabor), Toward the Heights (Shahazimah), and House of the Sun (Bethshemesh); and the outgoings of their border were at The Descender (Jordan): sixteen cities with their villages.

23 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Recompense (Issachar) according to their families, the cities and their villages.

24 The fifth lot came out for the tribe of the children of Happy (Asher) according to their families.

25 Their border was Smooth (Helkath), Necklace (Hali), Womb (Beten), and I Shall Be Bewitched (Achshaph),

26 Oak of the King (Alammelech), Enduring (Amad), Who Is What God Is (Mishael); and reaches to Garden-Land (Carmel) westward, and to Darkish Whiteness (Shihorlibnath);

27 It turned toward the sun rising to House of the Fish God (Bethdagon), and reaches to Exalted (Zebulun), and to the valley of God Opens (Jiphthahel) to-ward the north side of House of the Valley (Bethemek), and Moved by God (Neiel), and then goes out to Binding (Cabul) on the left hand,

28 Association (Hebron), Broad Place (Rehob), Warm Springs (Hammon), and Reed (Kanah), over to great Hunter/Fisher (Zidon);

29 Then the border turned to The Height (Ramah), and to the strong city A Rock (Tyre), and the border turned to Refuge (Hosah), and the outgoings thereof are at the sea from the border to Deceit (Achzib):

30 Union (Ummah), Enclosure (Aphek), and Broad Place (Rehob): twenty-two cities with their villages.

31 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Happy (Asher) according to their families, these cities with their villages.

32 The sixth lot came out to the children of Wrestling (Naphtali), for the children of Wrestling (Naphtali) according to their families.

33 And their border was from Great Oak (Heleph), from Oak (Allon) to Removings (Zaanannim), Man of Glorious Soil (Adami), Cavern (Nekeb), and God Causes to Build (Jabneel), to Fortification (Lakum); and the outgoings thereof were at The Descender (Jordan):

34 And then the border turned westward to Ears of the Mounds (Aznothtabor), it goes out from there to Appointed (Hukkok), and reaches to Exalted (Zebulun) on the south side, then reaches to Happy (Asher) on the west side, and to Praised (Judah) at The Descender (Jordan) toward the sun rising.

35 The fenced cities are The Slopes (Ziddim), Flint (Zer), Hot Spring (Ham-math), Shore (Rakkath), and Harps (Chinnereth),

36 The Earth (Adamah), The Height (Ramah), and Castle (Hazor),

37 Holy Place (Kedesh), Goodly Pasture (Edrei), and Castle (Hazor),

38 Fearing (Iron), Fearing (Iron), Sacred (Horem), House of Anat, Goddess of War-fare and Hunting (Bethanath), and House of the Sun (Bethshemesh); nineteen cities with their villages.

39 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Wrestling (Naphtali) according to their families, the cities and their villages.

40 The seventh lot came out for the tribe of the children of Judge (Dan) ac-cording to their families.

41 The border of their inheritance was Hornet (Zorah), Entreaty (Eshtaol), and City of the Sun-God (Irshemesh),

42 Place of Foxes (Shaalabbin), Field of Deer (Ajalon), and He Hangs (Jeth-lah),

43 Mighty Tree (Elon), Portion (Thimnathah), and Torn Up by the Roots (Ekron),

44 Let God Spew You Out (Eltekeh), Mound (Gibbethon), and Mistress (Baalath),

45 Beauty (Jehud), Sons of Lightning (Beneberak), and Winepress of the Pomegranate (Gathrimmon),

46 Waters of Yellowness (Mejarkon), The Temple (Rakkon), with the border before Beautiful (Japho).

47 But the territory of the children of Judge (Dan) was too small for them. Therefore, the children of Judge (Dan) went up to fight against Precious Stone (Leshem) and took it, smote it with the edge of the sword, possessed it, and dwelt therein. And they called Precious Stone (Leshem), Judge (Dan), after the name of Judge (Dan) their father.

48 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judge (Dan) according to their families, these cities with their villages.

49 When they had made an end of dividing the land for inheritance by their borders, the children of God Prevails (Israel) gave an inheritance to I AM is Salvation (Joshua) the son of Posterity (Nun) among them:

50 According to the word of I AM (Lord) they gave him the city which he asked, Portion of the Sun (Timnathserah) in mount Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraim): and he built the city, and dwelt therein.

51 These are the inheritances, which God Has Helped (Eleazar) the priest, and I AM is Salvation (Joshua) the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of God Prevails (Israel), divided for an inheritance by lot in Tranquility (Shiloh) before I AM (Lord), at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. So, they made an end of dividing the country.

 

20

1 I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) also spoke to I AM is Salvation (Joshua), say-ing:

2 Speak to the children of God Prevails (Israel), saying: Appoint out of your territories cities of refuge, whereof I spoke to you by the hand of Drawn (Mo-ses):

3 That the slayer that kills any person unawares and unwittingly may flee there: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.

4 When he that flees to one of those cities shall stand at the entrance of the gate of the city and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city to them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.

5 If the avenger of blood pursues after him, then they shall not deliver the slayer up into his hand; because he killed his neighbor unwittingly, and not out of hatred.

6 He shall dwell in that city until he stands before the congregation for judg-ment, and until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days: then the slayer may return to his own city, to his own house, to the city from which he fled.

7 So they appointed Holy Place (Kedesh) in Galilee in Mount Wrestling (Naphtali), and Shoulder (Shechem) in Mount Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraim), and City of the Four (Kirjatharba), which is Association (Hebron), in the mountain of Praised (Judah).

8 On the other side The Descender (Jordan) by Its Moon (Jericho) eastward, they assigned Gold Ore (Bezer) in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Behold a Son (Reuben), and Heights (Ramoth) in Rocky Region (Gil-ead) out of the tribe of Troop (Gad), and Their Captivity: Their Rejoicing (Golan) in Fruitful (Bashan) out of the tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh).

9 These were the cities appointed for all the children of God Prevails (Israel), and for the stranger that sojourns among them, that whosoever kills any per-son unintentionally might flee there, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stands before the congregation.

1 Then the heads of the fathers of the Children of Joined To (Levites) came to God Has Helped (Eleazar) the priest, and to I AM is Salvation (Joshua) the son of Posterity (Nun), and to the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the chil-dren of God Prevails (Israel);

2 They spoke to them at Tranquility (Shiloh) in the land of Humbled One (Canaan), saying: I AM (Lord) commanded by the hand of Drawn (Moses) to give us cities to dwell in, with the suburbs thereof for our cattle.

3 So the children of God Prevails (Israel) gave to the Children of Joined To (Levites) out of their inheritance, at the commandment of I AM (Lord), these cities and their suburbs.

4 The lot came out for the families of the Assembly (Kohasites): and the chil-dren of Light Bringer (Aaron) the priest, which were of the Children of Joined To (Levites), from out of the tribe of Praised (Judah), and out of the tribe of Heard (Simeon), and out of the tribe of Son of the Right Hand (Benjamin), thirteen cities.

5 The rest of the children of Assembly (Kohas) had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraim), out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half-tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh), ten cities.

6 The children of Exile (Gershon) had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Recompense (Issachar), and out of the tribe of Happy (Asher), out of the tribe of Wrestling (Naphtali), and out of the half-tribe of Causing to Forget (Manas-seh) in Fruitful (Bashan), thirteen cities.

7 The children of Bitter (Merari) by their families had out of the tribe of Be-hold a Son (Reuben), out of the tribe of Troop (Gad), and out of the tribe of Exalted (Zebulun), twelve cities.

 

8 So the children of God Prevails (Israel) gave by lot to the Children of Joined To (Levites) these cities with their suburbs, as I AM (Lord) commanded by the hand of Drawn (Moses).

9 They gave out of the tribe of the children of Praised (Judah), and out of the tribe of the children of Heard (Simeon), these cities which are here mentioned by name.

10 Which the children of Light Bringer (Aaron), being of the families of the Assembly (Kohasites), who were of the children of Joined To (Levi), had: for theirs was the first lot.

11 They gave them the city of Four (Arba) the father of Neck (Anak), which city is Association (Hebron), in the hill country of Praised (Judah), with the suburbs thereof round about it.

12 But the fields of the city, and the villages thereof, they gave to Dog (Caleb) the son of He Will Face (Jephunneh) for his possession.

13 Thus they gave to the children of Light Bringer (Aaron) the priest Association (Hebron) with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Pavement (Libnah) with her suburbs,

14 Plenty (Jattir) with her suburbs, and I Shall Make Myself Heard (Eshtemoa) with her suburbs,

15 Sandy (Holon) with her suburbs, and Sanctuary (Debir) with her suburbs,

16 Spring (Ain) with her suburbs, Stretched Out (Juttah) with her suburbs, and House of the Sun (Bethshemesh) with her suburbs; nine cities out of those two tribes.

17 Out of the tribe of Son of the Right Hand (Benjamin), Hill City (Gibeon) with her suburbs, Hill (Geba)with her suburbs,

18 Answers to Prayer (Anathoth) with her suburbs, and Concealed (Almon) with her suburbs; four cities.

19 All the cities of the children of Light Bringer (Aaron), the priests, were thirteen cities with their suburbs.

20 The families of the children of Assembly (Kohas), the Children of Joined To (Levites) which remained of the children of Assembly (Kohas), had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraim).

21 They were given Shoulder (Shechem) with her suburbs in Mount Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraim), to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Portion (Gezer) with her suburbs,

22 Two Heaps (Kibzaim) with her suburbs, and House of Hollowness (Bethhoron) with her suburbs; four cities.

23 And out of the tribe of Judge (Dan), Let God Spew You Out (Eltekeh) with her suburbs, Mound (Gibbethon) with her suburbs,

24 Field of Deer (Aijalon) with her suburbs, and Winepress of the Pomegranate (Gathrimmon) with her suburbs; four cities.

25 Out of the half-tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh), Tanach with her suburbs, and Winepress of the Pomegranate (Gathrimmon) with her suburbs; two cities.

26 All the cities were ten with their suburbs for the families of the children of Assembly (Kohas) that remained.

27 And to the children of Exile (Gershon), of the families of the Children of Joined To (Levites), out of the other half tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh) they gave Their Captivity: Their Rejoicing (Golan) in Fruitful (Bashan) with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and With Increase (Beeshterah) with her suburbs; two cities.

28 Out of the tribe of Recompense (Issachar), Hard (Kishon) with her suburbs, Word (Dabareh)with her suburbs,

29 Heights (Jarmuth) with her suburbs, and Fountain of the Garden (Engannim) with her suburbs; four cities.

30 Out of the tribe of Happy (Asher), Entreaty (Mishal) with her suburbs, Servile (Abdon) with her suburbs,

31 Smooth (Helkath) with her suburbs, and Broad Place (Rehob) with her suburbs; four cities.

32 And out of the tribe of Wrestling (Naphtali), Holy Place (Kedesh) in Circuit-District (Galilee) with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Hot Springs of Generation (Hammothdor) with her suburbs, and Two Cities (Kartan) with her suburbs; three cities.

33 All the cities of the Exile (Gershonites) according to their families were thirteen cities with their suburbs.

34 And to the families of the children of Bitter (Merari), the rest of the Children of Joined To (Levites), out of the tribe of Exalted (Zebulun), The People Lament (Jokneam) with her suburbs, and City (Kartah) with her suburbs,

35 Dunghill (Dimnah) with her suburbs, and Pasture (Nahalal) with her suburbs; four cities.

36 Out of the tribe of Behold a Son (Reuben), Gold Ore (Bezer) with her sub-urbs, and Trodden Down (Jahazah) with her suburbs,

37 Eastern (Kedemoth) with her suburbs, and Splendor Height (Mephaath) with her suburbs; four cities.

38 And out of the tribe of Troop (Gad), Heights (Ramoth) in Rocky Region (Gilead) with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Two Camps (Mahanaim) with her suburbs,

39 Stronghold (Heshbon) with her suburbs, and Helped (Jazer) with her sub-urbs; four cities in all.

40 So all the cities for the children of Bitter (Merari) by their families, which were remaining of the families of the Children of Joined To (Levites), were by their lot twelve cities.

41 All the cities of the Children of Joined To (Levites) within the possession of the children of God Prevails (Israel) were forty-eight cities with their suburbs.

42 These cities were all with their suburbs round about them: thus were all these cities.

43 So I AM (Lord) gave to God Prevails (Israel) all the land which He swore to give to their fathers, and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.

44 I AM (Lord) gave them rest round about, according to all that He swore to their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; I AM (Lord) delivered all their enemies into their hand.

45 There failed not ought of any good thing which I AM (Lord) had spoken to the house of God Prevails (Israel); all came to pass.

Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) called the tribe of Behold a Son (Reubeni-tes), the tribe of Troop (Gadites), and the half tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh),

2 He said to them: You have kept all that Drawn (Moses) the servant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) commanded you, and have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you:

3 You have not left your brethren these many days to this day, but have kept the charge of the commandment of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God ('Elohiym).

4 Now I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God (‘Elohiym) has given rest to your brethren, as He promised them: Therefore, return now, go to your tents, and to the land of your possession, which Drawn (Moses) the servant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) gave you on the other side The Descender (Jordan).

5 But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Drawn (Moses) the servant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) charged you, to love I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God, and to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commandments, and to cleave to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.

6 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) blessed them, and sent them away: and they went to their tents.

7 Now to the one half of the tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh) Drawn (Moses) had given possession in Fruitful (Bashan): but to the other half there-of gave I AM is Salvation (Joshua) among their brethren on this side of The Descender (Jordan) westward. When I AM is Salvation (Joshua) sent them away also to their tents, then he blessed them,

8 He spoke to them, saying: Return with much riches to your tents, and with very much cattle, with silver, with gold, with brass, with iron, and with very much clothing: divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.

9 Then the children of Behold a Son (Reuben) and the children of Troop (Gad) and the half-tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh) returned and depart-ed from the children of God Prevails (Israel) out of Tranquility (Shiloh), which is in the land of Humbled One (Canaan), to go to the country of Rocky Region (Gilead), to the land of their possession, whereof they were possessed, according to the word of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) by the hand of Drawn (Moses).

10 When they came to the borders of The Descender (Jordan), that are in the land of Humbled One (Canaan), the children of Behold a Son (Reuben) and the children of Troop (Gad) and the half tribe of Causing to Forget (Manas-seh) built an altar there by The Descender (Jordan), a great altar for all to see.

11 The children of God Prevails (Israel) heard it said: Behold, the children of Behold a Son (Reuben) and the children of Troop (Gad) and the half tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh) have built an altar over against the land of Humbled One (Canaan), in the borders of The Descender (Jordan), at the pas-sage of the children of God Prevails (Israel).

12 When the children of God Prevails (Israel) heard of it, the whole congrega-tion of the children of God Prevails (Israel) gathered themselves together at Tranquility (Shiloh), to go up to war against them.

13 Then the children of God Prevails (Israel) sent to the children of Behold a Son (Reuben), and to the children of Troop (Gad), and to the half-tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh), into the land of Rocky Region (Gilead), Mouth of Brass (Phinehas) the son of God Has Helped (Eleazar) the priest,

14 And with him came ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of God Prevails (Israel); each one was a head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of God Prevails (Israel).

15 They came to the children of Behold a Son (Reuben), and to the children of Troop (Gad), and to the half-tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh), to the land of Rocky Region (Gilead), and they spoke with them, saying,

16 The whole congregation of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) is asking: What trespass is this that you have committed against the God of God Prevails (Isra-el), to turn away this day from following I AM (the LORD, Yehovah). Why have you built yourselves an altar, to rebel this day against I AM (the LORD, Yehovah)?

17 Is the iniquity of Cleft (Peor) too little for us, from which we still suffer, although there was a plague in the congregation of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah),

18 But that you must turn away this day from following I AM (the LORD, Yehovah)? and it will be, seeing you rebel today against I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), that tomorrow he will be angry with the whole congregation of God Prevails (Israel).

19 Notwithstanding, if the land of your possession is unclean, then pass over to the land of the possession of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), wherein I AM (the LORD, Yehovah)'s tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession among us: but do not rebel against I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), nor rebel against us, in building you an altar beside the altar of I AM our God (Yehovah-Elohyim).

20 Didn’t Troubler (Achan) the son of Rising (Zerah) commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of God Prevails (Israel)? and that man didn’t perish alone in his iniquity.

21 Then the children of Behold a Son (Reuben) and the children of Troop (Gad) and the half tribe of Causing to Forget (Manasseh) answered, and said to the heads of the thousands of God Prevails (Israel),

22 I AM, God (Yehovah-Elohyim) of gods, knows, and God Prevails (Israel) shall know. If we have done this in rebellion, or if in transgression against I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), do not save us.

23 If we have built ourselves an altar to turn from following I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), or if to offer thereon burnt offering or meat offering, or if to offer peace offerings thereon, let I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) Himself require it;

24 But if we have instead done it for fear of this thing, saying: In time to come your children might speak to our children, saying: What have you to do with I AM, God (Yehovah-Elohyim) of God Prevails (Israel)?

25 For I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) has made The Descender (Jordan) a bor-der between us and you, you children of Behold a Son (Reuben) and children of Troop (Gad); you have no part in I AM (the LORD, Yehovah): so, shall your children make our children cease from fearing I AM (the LORD, Yehovah).

26 Therefore we said: Let us now prepare to build us an altar, not for burnt of-fering, nor for sacrifice:

27 But that it may be a witness between us, and you, and our generations after us, that we might do the service of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) before Him with our burnt offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace offerings; that your children may not say to our children in time to come, You have no part in I AM (the LORD, Yehovah).

28 Therefore we said: It shall be, when they should so say to us or to our gen-erations in time to come, that we may say again, Behold the pattern of the altar of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), which our fathers made, not for burnt offer-ings, nor for sacrifices; but it is a witness between us and you.

29 God forbid that we should rebel against I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), and turn this day from following I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), to build an altar for burnt offerings, for meat offerings, or for sacrifices, beside the altar of I AM our God (Yehovah-Elohyim) that is before his tabernacle.

30 When Mouth of Brass (Phinehas) the priest, and the princes of the congre-gation and heads of the thousands of God Prevails (Israel) which were with him, heard the words that the children of Behold a Son (Reuben) and the chil-dren of Troop (Gad) and the children of Causing to Forget (Manasseh) spoke, it pleased them.

31 Then Mouth of Brass (Phinehas) the son of God Has Helped (Eleazar) the priest said to the children of Behold a Son (Reuben), and to the children of Troop (Gad), and to the children of Causing to Forget (Manasseh): This day we perceive that I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) is among us, because you have not committed this trespass against I AM (the LORD, Yehovah): now you have delivered the children of God Prevails (Israel) out of the hand of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah).

32 So Mouth of Brass (Phinehas) the son of God Has Helped (Eleazar) the priest, and the princes, returned from the children of Behold a Son (Reuben), and from the children of Troop (Gad), out of the land of Rocky Region (Gile-ad), to the land of Humbled One (Canaan), to the children of God Prevails (Is-rael), and brought them word again.

33 The thing pleased the children of God Prevails (Israel); and the children of God Prevails (Israel) blessed God, and did not to go up against them in battle, to destroy the land wherein the children of Behold a Son (Reuben) and Troop (Gad) dwelt.

34 And the children of Behold a Son (Reuben) and the children of Troop (Gad) called the altar Witness (Ed): for it shall be a witness between us that I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) is God.

 

23

1 A long time after I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) had given rest to God Prevails (Israel) from all their enemies round about, I AM is Salvation (Joshua) grew old and stricken in age.

2 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) called for all God Prevails (Israel), and for their elders, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, and said to them, I am old and stricken in age:

3 You have seen all that I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God has done to all these nations because of you; for I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God is he that has fought for you.

4 Look, I have divided to you by lot these nations that remain, to be an inher-itance for your tribes, from The Descender (Jordan), with all the nations that I have cut off, all the way to the great sea westward.

5 And I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God, He shall expel them from be-fore you, and drive them from out of your sight; and you shall possess their land, as I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God has promised to you.

6 Be therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Drawn (Moses), that you turn not aside from it to the right hand or to the left;

7 That you come not among these nations, these that remain among you; nei-ther make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, nei-ther serve them nor bow yourselves to them:

8 But cleave to I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God, as you have done to this day.

 

9 For I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) has driven out from before you great na-tions and strong: but as for you, no man has been able to stand before you to this day.

10 One man of you shall chase a thousand: for I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God, he it is that fights for you, as He has promised you.

11 Therefore be diligent to love I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God.

12 If you go back even a little, and cleave to the remnant of these nations, that remain among you, and make marriages with them, and go into them, and they to you:

13 Know for a certainty that I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God will no longer drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps to you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good land which I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God has given you.

14 Behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and you know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing has failed of all the good things which I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God spoke concerning you; all have come to pass for you, and not one thing has failed thereof.

15 Therefore it shall come to pass, that as all good things are come upon you, which I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God promised you; so shall I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) bring upon you all evil things, until He has destroyed you from off this good land which I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God has given you.

16 When you have transgressed the covenant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) your God, which He commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) be kindled against you, and you shall perish quickly from off the good land which He has given to you.

 

24

1I AM is Salvation (Joshua) gathered all the tribes of God Prevails (Israel) to Shoulder (Shechem), and called for the elders of God Prevails (Israel), and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, and they presented themselves before God ('Elohiym).

2 There, I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said to all the people: This says I AM, God (Yehovah-Elohyim) of God Prevails (Israel): Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, Spirited Station (Terah), the father of Fa-ther of a Multitude (Abraham), and the father of Snorting (Nachor): and they served other gods.

3 I took your father, Father of a Multitude (Abraham), from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Humbled One (Canaan), and multiplied his seed, and gave him Laughter (Isaac).

4 Then I gave to Laughter (Isaac) Heel-Grabber (Jacob) and Hairy (Esau): and I gave to Hairy (Esau) Mount Shaggy (Seir), to possess it; but Heel-Grabber (Jacob) and his children went down into Double Straights (Egypt).

5 I sent Drawn (Moses) and Light Bringer (Aaron), and I plagued Double Straights (Egypt), according to that which I did among them: and afterward I brought you out.

6 When I brought your fathers out of Double Straights (Egypt): and you came to the sea, the Double Straights (Egyptians) pursued after your fathers with chariots and horsemen to the Red Sea.

7 When they cried to I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), He put darkness between you and the Double Straights (Egyptians), and brought the sea upon them, covering them; and your eyes have seen what I have done in Double Straights (Egypt): and you dwelt in the wilderness a long season.

8 So I brought you into the land of The Talkers, Sayers (Amorites), which dwelt on the other side The Descender (Jordan); and they fought with you: so I gave them into your hand, that you might possess their land; and I destroyed them from before you.

9 Then Devastator (Balak) the son of Sparrow (Zippor), king of Of His Father (Moab), arose and warred against God Prevails (Israel), and sent and called Not of the People (Balaam) the son of Burning (Beor) to curse you:

10 But I would not listen to Not of the People (Balaam); therefore, he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.

11 Then you went over The Descender (Jordan), and came to Its Moon (Jeri-cho): and the men of Its Moon (Jericho) fought against you, The Talkers, Say-ers (Amorites), and the Those Belonging to a Village (Perizzites), and the Humbled One (Canaanites), and the Terrors (Hittite), and the Dwelling of Clayey Soil (Girgashites), the Villagers (Hivites), and the Trodden Underfoot (Jebusites); and I delivered them into your hand.

12 I sent the hornet before you, which drove them out from before you, the two kings of The Talkers, Sayers (Amorites); but not with your sword, nor with your bow.

13 I have given you a land for which you did not labor, and cities which you built not, and you dwell in them; you eat of the vineyards and olive yards which you did not plant.

14 Now therefore fear I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), and serve Him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Double Straights (Egypt); and serve I AM (the LORD, Yehovah).

15 If it seems evil to you to serve I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood or the gods of The Talkers, Sayers (Amorites), in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve I AM (the LORD, Yehovah).

16 And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), to serve other gods;

17 For I AM our God (Yehovah-Elohyim), it is He that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Double Straights (Egypt), from the house of bond-age, and who did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:

18 I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) drove out from before us all the people, even The Talkers, Sayers (Amorites) which dwelt in the land: therefore, will we al-so serve I AM (the LORD, Yehovah); for he is our God ('Elohiym).

19 I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said to the people: You cannot serve I AM (the LORD, Yehovah): for He is a holy God ('Elohiym); He is a jealous God ('Elo-hiym); He will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.

20 If you forsake I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), and serve strange gods, then He will turn and do you hurt, and consume you after He has done you good.

21 And the people said to I AM is Salvation (Joshua): No; but we will serve I AM (the LORD, Yehovah).

22 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said to the people: You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), to serve Him. And they said: We are witnesses.

23 Now, therefore, put away the strange gods which are among you, and in-cline your heart to I AM, God (Yehovah-Elohyim) of God Prevails (Israel).

24 And the people said to I AM is Salvation (Joshua), I AM our God (Yehovah-Elohyim) will we serve, and His voice will we obey.

25 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shoulder (Shechem).

26 Then I AM is Salvation (Joshua) wrote these words in the book of the law of God ('Elohiym) and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah).

27 There I AM is Salvation (Joshua) said to all the people: Behold, this stone shall be a witness to us; for it has heard all the words of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) which He spoke to us: it shall be therefore a witness to you, lest you deny your God ('Elohiym).

28 So I AM is Salvation (Joshua) let the people depart, every man to his in-heritance.

29 And it came to pass after these things, that I AM is Salvation (Joshua) the son of Nun, the servant of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), died, being a hundred and ten years old.

30 They buried him in the border of his inheritance in Portion of the Sun (Timnathserah), which is in Mount Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraim), on the north side of the hill of Quaking (Gaash).

31 So God Prevails (Israel) served I AM (the LORD, Yehovah) all the days of I AM is Salvation (Joshua), and all the days of the elders that outlived I AM is Salvation (Joshua), who had known all the works of I AM (the LORD, Yehovah), that He had done for God Prevails (Israel).

32 They buried the bones of I AM Will Add (Joseph), which the Children of God Prevails (Israel) brought up out of Double Straights (Egypt), in Shoulder (Shechem), in a parcel of ground which Heel-Grabber (Jacob) bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shoulder (Shechem) for a hundred pieces of sil-ver: and it became the inheritance of the children of I AM Will Add (Joseph).

33 Then God Has Helped (Eleazar) the son of Light Bringer (Aaron) died; and they buried him in a hill that pertained to Mouth of Brass (Phinehas) his son, which was given him in mount Double Ash-Heap: Doubly Fruitful (Ephraim).
