1 He left there and came to His own country; and His disciples followed Him.
2
When the Sabbath day came, He began to teach in the synagogue, and many hearing
Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things? What wisdom
is this which is given to Him, that even such mighty works are wrought by His
hands?
3
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Rebellion (Mary), the brother of Supplanter
(James), Exalted (Joses), of Praised (Juda), and Heard (Simon)? Aren't His
sisters here with us?” And they were offended at Him.
4
But I AM is Our Salvation (Yeshua) said to them, “A
prophet is not without honor, but in his own country, and among his own kin,
and in his own house.”
5
He could not do many mighty works there, save that He laid His hands on a few
sick folks, and healed them.
6
He marveled because of their unbelief. So, He went round about the villages,
teaching.
7
He called to Himself the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two;
and gave them power over unclean spirits;
8
Commanding them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only,
no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse,
9
To wear sandals, and not put on two coats.
10
He told them, “In whatever place you enter a house, stay
there till you depart from that place.
11
Whosoever will not receive you, nor hear you, when you
depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against
them. Truly I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Burning (Sodom) and Tyrants
(Gomorrah) in the day of judgment, than for that city.”
12
So they went out and preached that men should repent.
13
They cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and
healed them.
14
King Heroic (Herod) heard of Him; (for His name was spread abroad:) and he
said, “I AM is a Gracious Giver (John) the Baptist was risen from the dead, and
that is why He can do these mighty works.”
15
Others said, “That it is My God is I Am (Elijah).” And others said, “That it is
a prophet, or as one of the prophets.”
16
But when Heroic (Herod) heard about Him, he said, “It is I AM is a Gracious
Giver (John), whom I beheaded; he is risen from the dead.”
17
For Heroic (Herod) himself had sent forth and laid hold on I AM is a Gracious
Giver (John), and bound him in prison for Heroica’s (Herodias’) sake, his
brother Horse Lover's (Philip’s) wife: for he had married her.
18
Because I AM is a Gracious Giver (John) had said to Heroic (Herod), “It is not
lawful for you to have your brother's wife.”
19
Therefore, Heroica (Herodias) had a quarrel against him, and would have killed
him, but she could not:
20
Because Heroic (Herod) feared I AM is a Gracious Giver (John), knowing that he
was a just man and a holy, and observed him; when he heard him, he did many
things, and heard him gladly.
21
Then a convenient day came. Heroic’s (Herod’s) birthday was celebrated by a
supper for his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Circuit-District
(Galilee).
22
When the daughter of Heroica (Herodias) came in, and danced, and pleased Heroic
(Herod) and those that sat with him, the king said to the damsel, “Ask of me
whatsoever you will, and I will give it to you.”
23
Then he swore to her, “Whatever you will ask of me, I will give it to you, up to
the half of my kingdom!”
24
So she went out and asked her mother, “What will I request?” She answered, “The
head of I AM is a Gracious Giver (John) the Baptist.”
25
Right away, she hurried to the king and requested, “I want you to give
me the head of I AM is a Gracious Giver (John) the Baptist on a platter.
26
The king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for the sake of
those who sat with him, he did not reject her.
27
Immediately, the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought:
so, he went and beheaded him in the prison,
28
And brought his head on a platter and gave it to the damsel, and the damsel
gave it to her mother.
29
When his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse and laid it in
a tomb.
30
Then the apostles came to I AM is Our Salvation (Yeshua), and told Him all
things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
31
He said to them, “Come set yourselves apart into a
desert place, and rest a while:” for there were many coming and going,
and they did not have time even to eat.
32
So they departed into a desert place by ship privately.
33
The people saw them departing, and many knew Him, and ran afoot there out of
all cities, beating them there and met Him.
34
Then I AM is Our Salvation (Yeshua) came out, saw many people, and was moved
with compassion toward them, because they were like sheep not having a
shepherd: and He began to teach them many things.
35
When the day was now far spent, His disciples came to Him, and said, “This is a
desert place, and now the time is far passed:
36
Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the
villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.”
37
He answered them: “You give them something to eat.” They
answered him, “Will we go and buy two hundred pennyworths of bread, and give
them to eat?”
38
He asked, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” When
they knew, they said, “Five, and two fishes.”
39
Then He commanded them to make all sit down by companies on the green grass.
40
So they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.
41
When He had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, He looked up to heaven,
blessed, and broke the loaves, and gave them to His disciples to set before
them; and the two fishes He divided among them all.
42
They all ate and were filled.
43
And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.
44
Those who ate of the loaves were about five thousand men.
45
Right away, He instructed His disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the
other side before Him to House of Fish (Bethsaida) while He sent away the
people.
46
After He had sent them away, He departed to a mountain to pray.
47
When evening came, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and He alone on the
land.
48
He saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary to them: and about the
fourth watch of the night, He came to them, walking on the sea, and would have
passed by them.
49
But when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and
cried out:
50
They all saw Him and were troubled. But immediately He talked with them, and said
to them, “Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.”
51
Then He went up to them in the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were amazed
in themselves beyond measure and wondered.
52
For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: their hearts were hardened.
53
And when they had passed over, they came into the land of A Harp (Gennesaret)
and drew to the shore.
54
When they came out of the ship, He was recognized by those on the shore,
55
They ran through that whole region round about and began to carry to Him in
beds those that were sick.
56
Whenever He entered villages, cities, or country, they laid the sick
in the streets and begged Him that they might touch if just the border of His
garment: and as many as touched Him were made whole.
